This was my family's first trip to Lake Tahoe so we looked for a place to eat where we would be able to sit outside and enjoy the view. This restaurant definitely was that but it fell short in the dining experience. As we ordered from a very limited menu only to be told they longer serve some of the... More

We were attracted to this restaurant - now called The Boathouse - mainly for its fabulous location right on the edge of the lake. The cocktails were delicious. Sadly that is where the good experiences ended. The starters were very mediocre, the main course was really not good at all. The Mahi Mahi Taco were mean and tasteless. The short rib... More

Mixed bag at this place. The view is spectacular. Right on the lake. Part of the restaurant is an old boat house. Food was excellent and presented well. Small menu but varied. Grilled corn with cheese sprinkled on it. Hamachi Tostadas. Pork loin. Duck Breast. All tasty. No dessert though! Staff was friendly but often underexperienced. Almost no knowledge of... More

Captain Jon's is the name on the sign outside at the beach/pier, but the restaurant name is the Boathouse. There is no food service from 3-5 pm, but we sat out on the dock and had drinks until the kitchen opened. We ordered appetizers-jicama ceviche tacos, gourmet corn on the cob and tostadas. All food was excellent and the view... More

Didn't eat there but the margaritas were excellent!! The restaurant is right on the lake, and the service was very good.

I was beyond happy to see this location is back in business. We have enjoyed the views and ambiance year after year! This is the must visit place for everyone who comes to Tahoe in our circle. You feel as though you are in the Lake when you sit on the deck/pier. We are thrilled to report that the new... More

There is few views as breath taking as Lake Tahoe. This restaurant was formally Captain Jon's is now The Boat House. The service was solid, the menu small but very tasty. The Oyster Bar was very good. Sitting on the deck adds to the experience. If you dine in the evening bring a jacket. Parking Is marginal but workable. Bar... More

I made a reservation on line, using their website. Got a confirmation back, and was looking forward to having our cocktails while watching the sunset. We checked into the B&B next door (Shore House, very nice, BTW) and walked over to the restaurant - only to find it CLOSED. Our host later told us the restaurant had been closed for... More

Restaurant sits right on the beach. You feel like you're on top of the water. I don't think we could have had a better view of the sunset. My pork chop was amazing with pumpkin puree.

A lady at the table next to us found a human tooth in her food!! The staff were very quite and unfriendly. Very awkward environment when it came to the servers. Nice view, though. Very small space.
