We were early last Fall (it took me a while to write my review). I see another review saying the place was closed. I don't know if it was permanently gone or just temporarily closed when those people went. Either way, don't bother. Even if it is open, you should stay away from this place. I love Mexican food, but... More

This restaurant is either closed or out of business. There was no indication online and so when we arrived one night after a long day hiking in South Lake we were very dissapointed to find out one of our standout favorites of the area was closed. :-(

Never had a bad Mexican meal until this one.... We had a view of the kitchen and noticed the microwave was in constant use. We ordered fajitas, steak and chicken. Both tasted like teriyaki. It was so bad we asked our server what spices they used! The food was so bad.... We left a tip because we felt bad .... More

We were looking for a good place to end a great family reunion. It is hard to find a restaurant that can handle large groups. This place was recommended by an individual that lived here. I called the day before we came in to check and make sure they could handle a party of 16. I was told that it... More

We ate at Matzalan Grill 5 years ago and loved it. I wrote a glowing review. We convinced my brother and his wife to join us there this week and had a terrible experience. I can no longer recommend this place. What a shame. We arrived at approximately 6:00 PM on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was not very busy... More

Yes, they are the authentic as you can get!! My friend who's Mexican said "it's just like my mother's bean at home"!! I am addicted to the Beans and Salsa and love the food. I eat at home, so I get it all to go. Extra for my eggs in the morning too. It's a good thing that they aren't... More

The food was excellent, with large portions. Love the chips and salsa! The host and servers were friendly and provided great service.

Did a search for Mexican food in South Lake Tahoe and came across this place by chance, was looking for Taqueria Jalisco but they were closed for the holidays. This place is one block over and I would say that it was a little gem to find. There is no such thing as authentic Mexican food in Tahoe, it is... More

Oh My, I think I finally found my favorite restaurant. The food was really good, I ordered a burrito, and picked from my fiances fajitas. The atmosphere was really nice, & warming, I went on a busy day so the service wasn't the greatest, but i wasn't in hurry so I didn't mind. The only negative was that the food was... More

We just went here last night for dinner it was so good my out of town guests want to go back tonight, I live here in Tahoe, and this is the best mexican food on south shore, authentic and reasonably priced. I also like that the tables are spaced well in the resturant and not on top of each other.
