Most of the upscale restaurants in the area were closed from Dec 1-17 which made it hard to find a place to eat. We showed up at Jake's late in the afternoon with a group of 10. They had a giant booth for us with a view of the marina. The service was really good but the food was off... More

I have vacationed regularly in Tahoe's North Shore for the past 35 years; and I'm always on the lookout for good-quality food. Jake's USED to be my very favorite. But, over the past 5 or so years, I have sometimes come away rather disappointed. The dinner menu offerings/variety seems to have lessened more and more, yet the prices seem to... More

We went to Jake's for Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving menu was good.but the service was lousy. Our waitress had a great suggestion for our dining..but she was too loud, too abrupt, and did not remove our finished plates, empty H20 goblets, or wine glasses as she served the dessert. She also forgot one of the salads that our companion ordered. We... More

Have frequented Jakes from time to time for the local flavor just laid back with wonderful view of the Lake and sky. My last couple visits I was more than pleasantly surprised at the meals I've enjoyed some of the best I've had in this area, fresh yummy and healthy options also. The staff is friendly and make you feel... More

Have been to Jake's a few times, generally the food is average and somethings very underwhelming. But we come here for the view, just next to a pier on the lake with ever changing skys - it's relaxing. Very enjoyable time with friendly staff

We always drive up to Lake Tahoe when we visit the wine country. The restaurant we normally go to was closed for the season so we tried Jakes. We realized we had been there many years ago and liked it. Well things have changed. The menu is basically overpriced bar food so we didn't try anything fancy. My daughter n... More

Tahoe has always had a special place in our hearts - we were married there at what used to be Caesar's Wedding Chapel (now a pool). Therefore, every year we go and eat someplace different. This year, my beloved chose Jake's On The Lake. What a nice surprise, and not a disappointment at all! We arrived around 5:30 on a... More

This restaurant is a little expensive but well worth the price. We were there for lunch and ordered Mahi Mahi, I think it was the best I have every had but it came with squash which I don't like but they came back with a plate of spinach, I never had better. There were four of us and we shared... More

First time in Tahoe City and arrived early evening. Jake's is a great find. Classy inside, superb service, excellent wine list and crowns it all with food that is both imaginative and delicious. This is definitely a gourmet venue that is a pity to miss when in this neck of the woods. My pork chop was filleted off the bone... More
