We loved eating right on the water front. Nice seating and great view and atmosphere on nice evenings or weather. We had sea food entrees and the fish was fresh and reasonably priced.

The food is pretty good. The best part about this place is the view. It would be nice to see the food stepped up a notch to match the location. Everything was reasonably expensive and food didn't match price. Service is good. All that being said I'd probably go back to bring friends their for the view but it's unlikely... More

Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen. Service was fine but our food was bland in taste (macadamia nut halibut) or overcooked (wagyu beef burger). Truffle fries were good, as was the Hula Pie (mammoth ice cream pie slice sharable with 6 people). For what we paid, we're not likely to return anytime soon.

We decided to try Jake's during our recent visit to Tahoe City. We were attending family reunion and decided to try the "other first-rated restaurant" this time. We got seated right away on a late Saturday afternoon. There were many items on the menu that appealed to us, so it was easy to make our selection. I chose the Crab... More

Ask for a spot on the patio! Wonderful ambiance and view. Service was so-so, not very attentive or informative. Wine list had the vintage off by two years for the wine we received. Had a salad with spicy walnuts and that was good. Halibut was well prepared, rice was just okay. Pork chop was decent, potato squares not very tasty.... More

We have been coming to Jakes for almost 30 years. One of my favorite lunches is the crab & shrimp melt for lunch. The last visit, because of the rain, we had to be seated in the bar, which still has a nice view. Our server introduced himself & stated he hoped the storm kept up so he could go... More

Jake's has always been a must whenever we are in Tahoe City. The view is great, the menu is great, the service and food can be a little hit and miss. This time, the food was great. Make a reservation ahead of time and request to eat outside or near a window.
