This is a popular spot for breakfast and lunch. They have daily muffins or coffeecake as well as daily breakfast and lunch specials. I haven't had anything I didn't like. I love their veggie potatoes and the scrambles. Many like the eggs benedict. Try it for brunch and you might miss the breakfast crowds.

Can't remember exactly when Firesign opened, but seems I have been eating there off and on for the past 30 years. I am not sure how often or when they have had to switch chefs (if ever), but this breakfast/lunch venue's quality and value have remained incredibly consistent over the years. There are so many selections, along with specials, that... More

We got there after 10, so it was brunch. We had to wait in the nearby cottage where we enjoyed 2 chai lattes and played checkers while waiting 15 minutes. The cottage quickly filled up, so this was a busy day. The menu is very large, so many great choices. We had buttermilk and buckwheat pancakes, waffles, and an omelette... More

My husband and I came for lunch, and the food was pretty good. Something different, they don't serve fries with their sandwiches or burgers, but they do serve chips and salsa. You can substitute for a salad or a number of other things. While our waitress was friendly, she didn't mention that it would cost extra ($1.35 I believe) to... More

We went for breakfast on a cool November day. We had a four minute wait. The menu was wonderful. They had dishes that sounded over the top delicious. But alas, we could only try one meal a piece. We had the smoked salmon omlette and the firesign crepe (1/2 order was plenty for me). The staff was very attentive. Pricing... More

You know you got a great place when on a holiday weekend they will tell people, "I'm sorry but there is a 2.5 hour wait." and the parties say "Great!! We'll wait...." If you want some local color go alone and sit at the breakfast bar and don't be shy..... talk to someone!

The Fire Sign is a cozy small cafe along the west shore of Lake Tahoe. We went there for a late breakfast/early lunch on a weekday. With the mid-morning time, it wasn't crowded, but based on the stack of beepers by the hostess stand, they get busy. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. The breakfast menu (served all day) has... More

Finding an excellent place to eat at Tahoe, either in the busy summer season or the busy winter season, can be difficult. The Fire Sign is such a place. The food is good, and plentiful. The staff are usually very busy, but still friendly. Outstanding for breakfast or brunch. Avoid on holiday or poker run weekends.
