Description: Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon in Uptown Susanville is NE...
Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon in Uptown Susanville is NE California's only brewpub. The historic Pioneer Mercantile building we occupy has been home to a saloon for over 150 years--look for the large vintage neon Pioneer sign on the south side of Main Street. We offer a small but eclectic menu of house-made dishes including fish and chips, lamb stew, hamburgers and fresh salads. Our ales are made on site and include light and dark ales from the pale, crisp Bizz Johnson Blonde to the rip snorting Pioneer Porter. We also have a full bar, specialty cocktails, wines by the glass and a selection of single malt scotch. Take a seat at our 36-foot-long bar and admire the wall of local ranch brands above the bar back. Or watch the brewer at work in the back room and play pool beneath the historic mural that celebrates Susanville's logging and ranching roots.

Very enjoyable experience on our first ever visit.

My wife and I really enjoyed our visit today, great beer and service, the food was very tasty. She had the fish and chips and I had a grassfed law burger, it was a little pricey but well worth the money for sure. We'll certainly be back through next visit to Susanville. Nice atmosphere, good service, pretty good food. Clean, spacious, white tablecloths. We were there for lunch, and I had a salad and half-sandwich combo, and my aunt had a huge bowl of Basque stew, and we shared some yummy garlic fries. We also shared a sampler of their craft beers, and they give very generous amounts of 6 or 7... More

The on site brews are excellent, and the food is generally very good. One of the dishes I've really liked in the past was the seafood saute. This time I was disappointed. There was very little sea food and over the top amount of flavorless angel hair pasta and very little vegtables.

The lamb stew was great but nothing else was that good. My wife had a Greek burger which was over cooked and appeared to from a frozen patty. The fish tacos were so spicy that my son couldn't eat them. Also, the check prices were different (higher) than the menu. As an example a glass of wine was listed for... More

I've had the pretzel and deep fried pickels- that were really good. I can't remember the name of pasta dish- but it was basic shrimp pasta..kinda bland. And they are a little pricey.

My husband and I stopped by for a couple of pints on our way to the national park. I had a salad and a beer, he had a burger and a beer, we both were happy. A bit expensive and not the best atmosphere (big empty room, at least when we were there, admittedly mid-day, mid-week!) but a fun stop... More

The service is always very good. Staff very friendly. The food is staying at a pretty good level. Sometimes it depends on when you go in to eat. Still haven't decided when is the best time. Lamb stew is a signature dish. Certainly worth a try.

2nd time we've been to Susanville and 2nd time to visit this restaurant; both times food and service has been great. Loved the fish tacos! Also, have great selection of beers and wine. Wonderful desserts.

Lassen Ale Works is located on the west side of Susanville in a beautiful historic area. The signage has gotten better over the years so you can easily spot them now. It is one of my favorite stops between Redding California and Reno Nevada. They have amazing food with excellent customer service. I don't think I have ever been disappointed... More

One of the only places to eat after 9pm, so our choices were limited. It is in an old building that has been renovated and is really nice. We really enjoyed it and would definitely go back.
