Description: Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon in Uptown Susanville is Northeastern California's only brewpub. We are a 21 and over only establishment. The historic Pioneer Mercantile building we occupy has been home to a saloon for 150 years--look for the large vintage neon Pioneer sign on the south side of Main Street. We offer a small but eclectic menu of house-made dishes including fish and chips, lamb stew, hamburgers and fresh salads. Our ales are made on site and include light and dark ales from the pale, crisp Bizz Johnson Blonde to the rip snorting Pioneer Porter. We also have a full bar, specialty cocktails, a wine by the glass and a selection of single malt scotch. Take a seat at our 36-foot-long bar and admire the wall of local ranch brands above the bar back or go into the back room to watch the brewer at work and play pool beneath the historic mural that celebrates the logging and ranching roots of Susanville.

Their fish & chips are very good. Their soups are nice, but the portions are small. Their French fries are wonderful, but the portions are smaller than they were a month ago. I recently ordered their calamari. Very little on the plate for $10.99. Most of their food is very good, but overpriced.

Two weeks ago, our group of 12 motorcyclists (the High Plains Drifters) were pushing through the Sierras from Klamath Falls OR to South Lake Taho. Lunch was over-due at the Lassen Ale Works (the Honda Trail in the window told us we'd be welcome). The owner personally came over to welcome us and I can tell you it never gets... More

Clean establishment with good service. We are not beer drinkers so didn't bother with the ale. The food is average pub fare - lots of deep fried items. Pricing is a bit high, but if you are passing through Susanville, it is worth a stop.

It is highly possible that you could walk by this restaurant and bar and never know that it's there. As soon as you go in, you're greeted immediately by staff who are more than willing to find you a place to eat and really enjoy yourself. The beauty of this place is that you could go in with a date... More

Susanville did not have a really good restaurant until Lassen Ale Works opened in the old Pioneer Saloon. They remodeled the old place and as soon as they opened for business, this was THE place in town to eat. The staff is friendly and the food and ale are awesome! We eat here often and it is always the best... More

The beautiful antique bar makes you feel like you are back quite a few years....it has been very well kept up. We went for lunch, then back for dinner. The beers were great and our waiter was so helpful and knowledgable about the beers and the food. We had the ploughman"s platter with homemade sausage for lunch. Plenty for two... More

This place is quite overrated here by people that have reviewed it on Trip Advisor. The food was basic bar food which I actually enjoy, but was overpriced. For example, a hamburger was 10.99 and you have to pay extra for cheese. Um, no. I had a French dip which was unremarkable. I also had their IPA which was average... More

We were so impressed with the service and quality of the food. Everything is made from scratch!! The food and beer was so good that we ate there 2 nights in a row. The best Macaroni and cheese we have ever tasted! Chicken fried steak was wonderful too. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside... More

If I were able to do so,I would have the Basque lamb stew served here at least weekly. It is that good. I also very much enjoyed the brown ale I paired with it. The restaurant is large, nicely appointed and inviting. My waitperson was friendly, informative and efficient. Looking back on my three week road trip, this is perhaps... More
