Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon in Uptown Susanville is Northeastern California's only brewpub. We are a 21 and over only establishment. The historic Pioneer Mercantile building we occupy has been home to a saloon for 150 years--look for the large vintage neon Pioneer sign on the south side of Main Street. We offer a small but eclectic menu of house-made dishes including fish and chips, lamb stew, hamburgers and fresh salads. Our ales are made on site and include light and dark ales from the pale, crisp Bizz Johnson Blonde to the rip snorting Pioneer Porter. We also have a full bar, specialty cocktails, a wine by the glass and a selection of single malt scotch. Take a seat at our 36-foot-long bar and admire the wall of local ranch brands above the bar back or go into the back room to watch the brewer at work and play pool beneath the historic mural that celebrates the logging and ranching roots of Susanville.

What a pleasant surprise in otherwise economically depressed Susanville. In a town where half the store fronts are shuttered, this place is open and seemingly doing good business. A friend said we had to come here and since we were in town for the county fair, we stopped in for lunch. We both had the lamb burger with goat cheese... More

We had an excellent lunch at Lassen Ale Works. My wife and I enjoyed the fish & chips and beer. My kids (9 and 6 yrs) very much liked the mac & cheese and the pool table.

Although strongly recommended, it did not meet our expectations... Service was slower, the strung out waitress took way to long to traverse the long walk back and forth to the kitchen for a few additional condiments after the food arrived dry and unseasoned. My seafood angel hair pasta dish had promise, but was unseasoned and had only 2 sad shrimp.... More

This place should be the main reason for staying overnight in Susanville. The place has a great history besides having an excellent beer selection. The lamb stew is perfect and reasonably priced. Happy hour is until 6pm. Ask at your hotel for wood tokens for a free beer.

We had a late night hankering for a shake so we went in here but they didn't have any so we got some tasty caramel ice cream instead. Cool decorations and beautiful murals of local history.

This was my first visit to this restaurant. Unfortunately we came on an extremely busy night- we waited over one hour for our food to arrive. Our server was very apologetic and bought us a round of drinks. The food was good. Very noisy atmosphere though.

We stopped in to have a quick bite and a beer since I had read reviews that it was pretty good. The front of the restaurant had us questioning about whether it was going to be good but you go inside and it is whole other world. Beautiful wood floors and just a charming atmosphere. We went in the back... More

I came in for a light snack and tried the spinach salad and artichoke dip. As someone who watches food portions, I appreciate that the salad came in a small or large size. The spinach salad was probably the best I've had, and the artichoke dip with pita bread was so tasty. This restaurant is excellent because it offers healthy... More
