Description: Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon in Uptown Susanville is...
Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon in Uptown Susanville is Northeastern California's only brewpub. We are a 21 and over only establishment. The historic Pioneer Mercantile building we occupy has been home to a saloon for 150 years--look for the large vintage neon Pioneer sign on the south side of Main Street. We offer a small but eclectic menu of house-made dishes including fish and chips, lamb stew, hamburgers and fresh salads. Our ales are made on site and include light and dark ales from the pale, crisp Bizz Johnson Blonde to the rip snorting Pioneer Porter. We also have a full bar, specialty cocktails, a wine by the glass and a selection of single malt scotch. Take a seat at our 36-foot-long bar and admire the wall of local ranch brands above the bar back or go into the back room to watch the brewer at work and play pool beneath the historic mural that celebrates the logging and ranching roots of Susanville.

Great Monte Cristo sandwich

We stopped in for a late lunch and ordered the French dip and Monte Cristo sandwiches. We first verified that the Monte Cristo was deep-fried and not griddle-fried. The Monte Cristo was the best we've had in the West since the last one we had at Disneyland (and that is not a slur! Disneyland, at... read more

This is probably one of the best places in town. The beers are great (I recommend the Belgian triple ale) and the fish and chips, too. Other items I would recommend are the mac and cheese, the pasta primavera and the chicken fried steak with garlic mashed potatoes and gravy. I haven't tried any of their sandwiches yet, but I've... Fourth trip through Susanville and this is our favorite. Great beer, fun staff, menu with a good selection, and specials that keep us coming back. Love the decor and "brand" theme. Tourists and locals fill the place nightly.

Rated one of the top in the country, the Pio is hard to not love. The food is always amazing, the atmosphere wonderful, the service incredible, and the beer, well, its worth a trip, from anywhere. My favorite is known simply as "The Red". If you're in the neighborhood, stop by! You won't regret it!

I can't address the food, since mine was a hit-and-run beer stop, but I thoroughly enjoyed the vibe and the brews at the Pioneer Saloon. I had a goblet of the Imperial Stout, which was a nicely blended combination of flavors, dark roasted malt being the predominant one. I also filled a growler with the Dubbel XX, a sweetish Belgian... This is one of my favorite places to eat and hang out. The food is great.. Love the fish tacos and the rueben. As far as drinks go... for lunch I love their lavender lemonade, for evening time the chocolate cherry martinis are soooooo good. I also enjoy the Bizz Johnson Blonde. This is a must try place in Susanville... More

We visited Susanville on business and had the pleasure dining at LAW twice. Both times the food was exceptional. My husband stated it was the best coleslaw he has ever had. Great spot!

On this visit I ordered their chicken, garlic and spinach soup. Delicious. Their half an order of Caesar salad was tiny and the romaine lettuce was limp and came with too much dressing which was lacking a Caesar dressing component. Perhaps the anchovy? Ask for the dressing on the side if you want to taste any lettuce. The garlic bread... More
