Brewer's Ponderosa Lodge, or the "Pondo" is located above Quaking Aspin in the small mountain settlement of Ponderosa, about 45 minutes from Springville on highway 190. At 7200' elevation is sits just off the highway at the edge of the lovely Sierra forest land. There are trails and roads to explore, a rustic campground, Peppermint, nearby, as well as great... More

We stopped here on our way home after a camping trip, and hit it right at the annual chili cook-off. We had so much fun, so many delicious drinks, and the best chili this side of Texas! We met just about everyone at the event, and also had what they call a "dino leg", which was a huge turkey leg.... More

The Lodge is always a treat on a mountain bike ride, climbing or when visiting the area in any season or for any sport. There are horseshoes out back, a roaring fire in the bar, and seasoned mountain folk to hang out with. The Lodge food is mountain comfort food. The portions are good-sized and the food is tasty. I went last summer with family members. We had beers and played several games of pool. It has a great old fashioned mountain lodge atmosphere. Very relaxing and lots of fun.

We spent a couple nights at the Ponderosa in October and totally enjoyed our stay. The room was adequate and reasonably clean and the staff could not have been more friendly. We had coffee and danish delivered to our room the first morning which was a pleasant surprise. We ate dinner at the lodge both nights and while the food... More

We have been visiting the Ponderosa for 30 years. It's in the middle of a beautiful forest with groves of giant sequoias and other evergreen trees high in the Sierra Nevada mountains. The food and drinks are good but not fancy. Eating out on the deck gives a chance for enjoying the sights, smells and sounds of the forest. A... More

They served good food and very friendly. It's been a long time going back due to the drive. But it is well worth it if you're an out doorsey person.

Ate here twice during a recent stay in the mountain community of Ponderosa (this is not in, or even near Springville - all Ponderosa businesses seem to have Springville mailing addresses). It's a combination bar, diner, mini-market, and besides the fact that there wasn't a whole lot of friendliness on the part of the staff (and in the case of... More

The food here is home-made and rustic and a great alternative to camping fare. The people are friendly and welcoming. We often camp nearby and end up eating the fish we caught or tinned beans. The Ponderosa Lodge is nearby enough that we can go for a bowl of great chili or a BLT with crispy bacon and not have... More
