Friendly service and a pleasant lunch

We stopped here after a few hours of hiking. A thunderstorm was rolling in, but it was still far in the distance. We had our dog with us and they kindly allowed us to sit on the patio (our request). We stopped here for dinner on the way back from a day spent exploring Sequoia National Park. The place looked so cool and we were looking forward to a nice meal out on the porch, but first a bathroom break and a chance to was our hands. The bathrooms were worse than any I've ever had to use. Filthy and... More

We stopped here for a late lunch after visiting Trail of 100 Giants and we were cheerfully welcomed by the two ladies working (one cooking and one waiting tables). There was a huge family group sitting inside and as we had our dog with us, we sat outside on the nice patio/deck. The food is classic diner fare: Patty melt... More

Greasy food, dirty plates, cold soup and lukewarm tea, take it or leave it service. This place was For Sale (end September 2014) and it seemed clear that the current owner had little interest in either serving good food or offering a pleasing ambience. I'm not a fussy eater by any means but this was one place I would never... More

Stopped for lunch on the way back from trail if 100 giants. Honestly this is pretty much the only option around haha but it's cute and the staff was friendly. Standard American menu. Got a Triple decker club, chips and salsa and a beer - all delish and huge portions! Struck up a chat with some locals. Would be a... More

Brewer's Ponderosa Lodge, or the "Pondo" is located above Quaking Aspin in the small mountain settlement of Ponderosa, about 45 minutes from Springville on highway 190. At 7200' elevation is sits just off the highway at the edge of the lovely Sierra forest land. There are trails and roads to explore, a rustic campground, Peppermint, nearby, as well as great... We stopped here on our way home after a camping trip, and hit it right at the annual chili cook-off. We had so much fun, so many delicious drinks, and the best chili this side of Texas! We met just about everyone at the event, and also had what they call a "dino leg", which was a huge turkey leg.... More

The Lodge is always a treat on a mountain bike ride, climbing or when visiting the area in any season or for any sport. There are horseshoes out back, a roaring fire in the bar, and seasoned mountain folk to hang out with. The Lodge food is mountain comfort food. The portions are good-sized and the food is tasty. I went last summer with family members. We had beers and played several games of pool. It has a great old fashioned mountain lodge atmosphere. Very relaxing and lots of fun.
