Great Experience

When Google maps told us to make a final turn, my wife and I expected a small building--not a complex that took up a whole city block. This restaurant appears to be the offshoot of a functioning Basque cultural center that serves a Basque community in the Bay Area. The concept is amazing-- if they can sort out the problems this place could be a must-visit. Basically there were three problems. One related to the transparency of their policies, one related to service and the last related... More

I went here for dinner with several friends. We had all been together in Basque country in Spain. We all liked the Basque food in Spain. Unfortunately, the food in this place does not hold up. It is mostly mediocre, not bad, not good. Some of the wine is quite good for the price.

I went to the Basque Cultural Center with my student from Bilbao. The food was good but not Spanish Basque food. They were nice and let us split a dinner. That was good because it was just right for the two of us.

My parent surprised my for my birthday and invited our closest family and friends to join us for a lovely three course meal. The restaurant is large with many dining halls for private parties --we were in the main restaurant area. The tables are close together which makes it seem a bit crowded. This will probably only be a bit... More

Every time I visit San Francisco I make it a point to take the short drive and dine at the Basque Cultural Center. I've been doing this for almost 20 years now. This is a long-time hang out for the Basque community in the Bay area, so dining here has a homey feeling. You can see people in their workout... More

This place is not visually spectacular - in fact, it's a bit of a let down if you expect to see something splashy and cultural. And plus, it's not in a happening place in So. SF. Plus, if you want to go there for the young crowd, forget it - this is where the retired hang out. But the food... More

We attended a baptism with a large group. The place is a little dated. Food was good quality but not great. The portion of prime rib was small but good flavor. Dinner also had vegetables and scalloped potatoes along with a salad and french bread rolls. The scalloped potatoes were extremely good as was the French bread. Our waitress must... More

I have been eating at this establishment for the past over5 months. The food is extraordinary. The nightly dinner specials are marvelous----4 courses for less than $25. The french red table wine is a great accompaniment to any meal and it's only $14.00. I have always had only great meals here. Never been disappointed.

Most of us may have traveled to Europe , Asia , North & South America. Sometimes, we may miss the little ethnic pockets of unique communities during our travels. Here, at Basque Cultural Center, one doesn't have to travel to the mountains of Spain and the local Basque community high in the Alps between Spain and France. Its located at... More
