A Delightful Evening

The staff was attentive and charming. The French Onion soup was delicious. The Ribeye had wonderful sauce on it. I normally do not like sauce on my steak, but the was a pleasant surprise. My wife was disappointed with the Sole Menieure - bland. With drinks, dessert and tip, $75 per person. Well... read more

The excellent food brought us back a second time. The noise level insures that we will not return. It is really a shame. The food and service are wonderful, but when you have to lean across the table and shout to have a conversation, the taste turns sour. And careful with the "sea bass" that another reviewer loved. It is... More

Stopped by one of our favorite French restaurants in South Pasadena. This is the real deal. Menu is deep and creative without being pretentious. The preparation and presentation reminds me of our trip to Provence last year. Service is excellent. Dining can be indoors or out. Very nice ambiance. We give them five very solid stars.

Our first visit - scallops and sea bass were done to perfection. Chef Bruno takes special care with each dish prepared. Dungeness crab cakes were excellent. The Viognier was delicious! The staff were all very helpful, answering our questions very patiently. Chef Bruno came out to greet each patron as well. We look forward to returning again to have another... More

A delightful, unpretentious bistro remenicent of and better than many a bistro in France. Terrific menu, authentic recipes and better than continental service. Outside and outside seating (well behaved puppies permitted) and streaming Pink Martini Radio. Cost appropriate (I enjoyed Lobstar Ravioli, my husband, lamb shanks + appetizers and wine - $ 110.00)

We found this bistro on a lovely March evening and ate outside in warm weather in March. The waitresses were attentive and not pushy or pretentious. The Voignier and Cabernet Savignon were delicious. I had French Onion soup that was tasty, piping hot with great stringy melted delicious cheese. The egg plant with tomatoe sauce appetizer was just as good.... More

Excellente French cuisine at reasonable prices. Thanks to the Chef who love to treat his customers well. The food is excellent and all cooked with fresh ingrédients. Very pleasant relax atmosphere. If you go once you will adopt this place for sure ! I sure did....10/10. Valerie (Paris, France)

We walked by this place saw the seats on the sidewalk, saw the menu, looked inside and thought it worth a visit. The starters were not quite up to scratch, the escargot was delivered more drizzled in oil than butter and herbs, while the terrine de voile lacked subtlety and was simply a mass of terrine/pâté shovelled onto some toasted... If you live in Los Angeles, you are very lucky because this authentic French bistro could be just hundred feet away from your home. If you are from out of town, then make this your destination while visiting LA. Believe me, the food, the setting, and the neighborhood make having a lunch or dinner at Bistro de la Gare an... More
