Dinner with my love

Perfect experience. We arrived 10 minutes late for our reservation time and the hostess had no issue with us when we asked for 15 min at the bar for a bev first anyway. Dinner was phenomenal and our server Jana was the perfect blend of social and professional. Will be back MANY times!

I visit Santa Cruz a couple of times a year and I always want to have a meal at Cafe Cruz. It was once a best kept secret, but it is always packed, now. Call for a reservation. Service was VERY slow the Friday evening we went. I had the steelhead trout and it did not disappoint $22. My companions... More

Cafe Cruz is a great place for lunch or dinner and is favored by many locals. Food is always good as is the service. I prefer to sit on the patio as it can be noisy in the dining rooms - it's always lively there! A reservation is a must on the weekends and probably not a bad idea during... More

We had dinner reservations here but were not seated for 45 minutes. A very busy, crowded, loud restaurant. Fortunately we had a table outside where the noise was not an issue. All three of us were able to share a Romaine salad and a bread pudding dessert. Both very nice. I had the Prawn/scallop linguine entrée which I found to... More

Went with 7 friends for dinner. We had appetizers of calamari and bread with garlic dip. I had the full size filet mignon medium rare and it was perfect along with a Cinnabar red wine.

cafe cruz looks good on line, and we went on a Friday night; it was slammed, a good sign; however, the main two dining rooms were so loud that we were unable to talk across the table; we sat , finally, in the garden room; quieter, but a bit dreary; the place to sit is the outside garden area, well... I dined here with my family of 9 on my recent visit to Capitola. It was the best meal of our entire vacation! We had a large group, including 2 kids plus a newborn baby. They treated us great, total respect. We had a reservation so we were able to sit on the outside patio, which was magical. The heaters... More

Charming ambience! Good service! Poor but pricey food! Colorless food combination on the plate! No taste! Very poor copy-paste of qualified restaurants' menu. Too much crowded and noisy for a special dinner. Outdoor patio is certainly better for crowded evenings and having a lunch. Squash bruschetta- no charm on the plate, very bad taste in the mouth. Fried calamari: good.... More

We always enjoy ourselves at Café Cruz!! The place was jumping from early on New Years Eve! It was a beautiful cool evening - so you could sit out side by the fire place or under a heater. There is a conversation lounge area, that is so nice if you want to sit in the patio and wait for dining... More

Café Cruz is always popular as a go-to classy restaurant for reliably delicious food. My only suggestion for improvement is for the restaurant to try somehow to reduce the noise level. On a busy night -- which is every time we go -- the noise level indoors is so loud that a normal conversation is difficult. Of course, "noisy" means... More
