Atmosphere and service make visit worthwhile

I took my son so he could have a treat at an old fashioned soda fountain. We hadn't had dinner, so ordered some sandwiches. They weren't gourmet, but they were freshly made and tasty. The sarsparilla float made my son's day! The ladies were super friendly and invited us to stay as long as we... read more

This is a very friendly place to relax, browse and experience an old fashioned soda fountain. We shared a chocolate soda with vanilla ice cream. It was served with extra soda and chocolate syrup so it never went "dry". The carved bar had an interesting history having been saved from the great Chicago fire and spending some time in San... Legends is a must-stop place in Sonora. Like all shops in Sonora, the restaurant façade "fools" you because it seems small - but all the stores in old-town Sonora are narrow and long as a result of the historic buildings' structure. Legends is the perfect place to grab a bite. They make home made sandwich & soups, offer absolutely delicious... More

It's right on the Main Street and you can get fantastic shakes and sundaes - what more does a girl need? There's also a selection of antiques/bric-a-brac in the back room and if books are your thing head downstairs where you'll find some lovely nooks and crannies to explore, as well as a grotto with running water - I'm assuming... We were attracted by the nice looking soda fountain with the milk shake machines. So, after we ordered a milk shake we were surprised that the shake was made with a Vitamix type blender. It was a bit disappointing but still tasted good. I had the tuna fish sandwich which was fine but my wife had the turkey sandwich which... More

Sit at the counter and enjoy an ice cream soda or any treat you desire. This place is amazing. I had a superb root beer float and enjoyed the ambiance that brought back childhood memories. And don't forget to browse through the used book selection, particularly downstairs. You won't be disappointed.

When you enter the front door, notice the grand saloon bar where they serve some of the best ice cream in the county. They also have a large selection of used books in the back and downstairs. If you're an ice cream devotee and a book lover, this is the place for you!

We stopped into Legends to have an old fashioned cherry coke (not cherry coke they sell in cans and bottles today) and the staff were thrilled to make it for us!! The staff were so friendly and invited us to walk around downstairs where they have an entrance to underground tunnels and a creek that runs indoors!! We didn't taste... More

Belly up to the bar (it came around the Horn) and enjoy a long, cool ice cream soda. Sandwiches are also great, and you can settle down with one of the books from Legends' shelves. Surprise! The basement chambers are for you to discover. Don't miss this remarkable Sonora landmark.

I have only been to Legends by myself, but I think kids would really enjoy the experience. I bought a fun antique child's book. It took a while for the dampness to dissipate, so this is not a place to buy collectibles. But it was so fun to experience the creek in the basement and imagine the gold miners panning... More
