My husband and I live nearby so actually dine at Breakaway at least once a month. The food is delicious, service attentive-but not overly so, the seating very comfortable, the decor is lovely and mural art is boldly beautiful, AND diners can have a dinner conversation in normal voice and hear each other! Wow! We love Breakaway!

Great staff serves up consistently excellent food for reasonable prices. Sonoma has some great restaurants, but most are geared toward the tourists -- and the prices show it. Breakaway has been a local favorite for decades. Can't imagine Sonoma without it.

Just off the 12 in the Maxwell Shopping Center, the local favorite Breakaway Café continues to serve an excellent breakfast till 2PM daily. Weekends brunch is also offered. The corn beef hash is my favorite. I love the Spanish décor and spacious atmosphere making this a nicer place for breakfast than many others I have been to. The Breakaway also... More

So we left our hotel in Glen Ellen on Saturday night and headed to the cocktail lounge up the block that we usually have martinis at when we're in town. It was closed! We started driving south on 12, although we didn't really want to go into Sonoma Plaza and all the hub-bub. Sitting at the edge of a non-descript... More

My family has been going to the Breakaway Café for many years and find it to be a consistently good restaurant with good choices and excellent food. We love their holiday and seasonal special menus and wouldn't miss going there for St. Patrick's Day! We usually do either breakfast/brunch or dinner and find both menus offered at these meals to... When we asked for a breakfast place recommendation, Breakaway Cafe was everyones first choice. We had huevos rancheros, probably the best I have ever eaten. Many of the dishes come in two sizes so you can choose the size you wish. Prices were very reasonable

Upon a recommendation from friends, we decided to try the Breakaway Cafe for our last meal before leaving Sonoma. The food was, very good. We started with the calamari friti which was huge, and some of the best that I've ever eaten. My meatloaf was very good, with mashed potatoes and green beans...definite comfort food. My wife had the chicken piccata... More

An OK place for a quick bite. Dinner prices high for value received. Hit or miss on entrees - good one time not so good the next.

My family and I have found this Cafe to be our favorite in Sonoma...great food...great service! Also, we are able to hear ourselves think because of the low ceiling...we are able to talk at a normal level to ourselves and to the staff...the meal we all had last night was excellent!
