A mixed experience

The food was good, but not great, for the price. The service was very disappointing. The host treated us very well, but our waitperson gave us perfunctory service at best. Watching her at other people's tables, we spotted the problem: if you don't order wine, your won't get proper attention.

A small restaurant where you could actually converse in a normal tone of voice. Simply great food, simply prepared with excellent sauces. A good wine list, not terribly expensive. I would eat here every week if I lived nearby.

The restaurant is small and unique in many ways. We were seated closest to the kitchen and found it interesting to be able to watch the staff work their magic. Unfortunately we also got to watch one of the staff place his cell phone on the white cutting board and proceed to text in between orders. My wife and I... More

So there is something to be said when a restaurant not only has amazing food, but the atmosphere and experience adds to the food. This was certainly the case with this find. Recommend to us by our concierge, we ended up eating there twice. The food is awesome and would be the understatement; the service staff are knowledgeable and friendly,... More

Perhaps my expectations were too high, but La Cafe Haye was not quite as good as I had anticipated. Smallish place nicely with white table clothes. Our table for two was big enough for both, but I, sadly, sat facing the wall. More time to look at my beautiful wife. We started with a kir royale which was delicious and... More

My husband and I regularly eat at this gem of a restaurant. The service is always excellent and friendly. The food is just fresh delicious and truly California wine country cuisine. This is in my opinion the best restaurant in the town of Sonoma. There are many good restaurants it's just that this one stands above.

My wife and I loved this place! A very friendly, laid-back atmosphere with attentive service and delicious food. The place is tiny...and the kitchen even tinier, but that somehow made it seem more intimate and private, though not pretentious at all. My wife enjoyed her soup and beet salad (she wasn't very hungry...but she was not disappointed with her choices).... More

Cafe La Haye is a fine restaurant that is consistantly good. A bit expensive, but rises to the occasion. Nice ambiance in a small location. Saul the owner is very accomodating and greatful for the business. Corkage fee too high-$25 but they will waive if you order another bottle of wine. Salmon was delicious, perfectly cooked. Veggies are extra and... More

Cafe La Haye is a small restaurant offering an intimate setting and fine dining. The meals were the best we had during our stay in Sonoma. After eating my main course, I confessed to my family sitting at the table that if I were home, I'd lick my plate....it was that good! First bite and you'll be sighing and saying... More

We visited Cafe LA Haye on Friday evening. Absolutely wonderful. Service was impeccable. As one would assume, a great wine list however reasonably priced. The food exceeded our expectations. By far our best meal in this trip.
