This review pertains to the counter help, not the actual food. Danishes and pastries were fine. However, when we walked in there were about six people behind the counter and only one asked if they could help the next customer. It made for a needlessly long line (about 8-10 of us waiting for counter help). Better training on friendliness and... More

No trip to Solvang is complete without a visit to Mortensen’s Danish Bakery. A perfectly architectured Danish bakery with distinct choices of Danish pastries coupled with the sweet smell of sugar, butter and jam everywhere. We tried the Raspberry Coconut Macaroon Squares with some regular coffee and it was heavenly. There was good demand for Owl Eye cookies and Danish... More

Authentic danish pastries and decadent, yummy desserts. A must stop if you are in Solvang. They have an outside patio, they are located in downtown Solvang and aside from pastries, also offer coffee and juices.

The pastries were beautiful and delicious but they were very expensive. I would have taken some home to my kids but some pastries were over $6 each!

After several hours of walking sight-seeing in the village of Solvang, I decided to buy dessert for the cousins I was visiting at Vandenberg AFB. The aroma when I walked in was wonderful, and the selection almost overwhelming. I walked up & down the double bakery cases, muttering to myself, trying to decide what to buy, and asking questions about... More

I believe this is the bakery that supplies for many of the hotels. Danishes for breakfast in Solvang is the norm. The danishes aren't your normal frozen and small danishes that most hotels offer. These are large, flakey absolutely delicious danishes made fresh from the next door bakery.

Wow! You must come here for their gourmet Danish pastries. The fruit boats in particular were amazing. The apple turnovers were some of the best we've ever had. The custard danish was scrumptious. The coffee was plentiful and the hot chocolate was not too sweet. Overall, I'm a happy bunny!

For me, the best part of visiting Solvang was stopping at Mortensen's Danish Bakery for a cup of coffee and a pastry. They've got a nice selection of pastries, but not everything is available by the slice. For example, I wanted a piece of apple strudel, but they don't sell it by the slice, so I opted for a cream...
