The owner/chef has been at many well known So CA restaurants. Very nice, traditional type of French cuisine. Hands on family ownership. more

You must try the Cabernet Bistro . It's located upstairs in the center of Solvang. We make special visits 3-4 times a year to this wonderful restaurant. We even turned down offers to visit other restaurants just to eat here. We enjoy "Chef's" talent in the kitchen as well as his great sense of humor. Mrs. Chef will make sure... more

Two issues with us. First, we went there at 6:10 p.m. and we were given early bird specials menu. Then we ordered from it and were expecting to pay $17 for Salmon and Soup, but when we got the bill, it has $24 for Salmon and $7 for soup. There were 9 of us, so it was a lot. I... more

We only wanted salads, because we had been snacking at the local wineries all day. When we were seated, we were given an Early Bird menu, which had low prices for salads and escargot. The escargot was excellent, although the salads were uninteresting. When the bill came, however, they refused to give us the Early Bird prices. We felt that... more

I had the opportunity to eat at Cabernet Bistro twice this week - January 14th and 17th. On the January 14th "summer night" I had has an appetizer a Shrimp dish and for dinner a most excellent prepared San Dabs. Really, the San Dabs just melted in my mouth. The wine as suggest by the owner was a Talbott Cuvee... more

We have had diner here many times and all I can say is Wow! With the popularity of so called Fusion Cuisine it is so refreshing to find traditional French cuisine, cooked by an experienced chef, Jacques, who is actually in the kitchen whenever the restaurant is open. Our first time there Jacques came to our table and talked to... more

Only wish I had checked reviews before eating there last week. Or maybe I should have taken a hint when the place was almost deserted while other restaurants were bursting. Some of the food (escargots, one duck dish) were actually very good, others were quite disappointing for the price ($30 and up). The owner himself however is what is taking... more

My Mom and I ate at the Cabernet Bistro this last weekend and had one of the most horrid experiences I have ever had in a restaurant....The first and second courses were great-Oysters on the halfshell and a fantastic beet and bleu cheese salad that we shared. For entrrees we both ordered the duck, which was lauded as a house... more

I’m happy to confirm that Jacques & Diana Toulet, owners of Les Pyrenees Restaurant in Santa Monica for twenty years are now providing the Santa Ynez Valley what Elmer Dills describes as “The Best Duck in Los Angeles.” I know this because Diana arranged a perfectly wonderful wedding rehearsal dinner party in Solvang for my son who shares with his... more

We live in Santa Barbara and travel up to the Santa Ynez Valley several times a month. We feel like we have found a hidden Solvang jewel , Cabernet Bistro! I love French cuisine and for any lovers of excellent duck, escargot, and steak you will not be disappointed! Not to mention the desserts and wine! Our servers were kind... more
