When every we go to Solvang, we always try and eat lunch here. The wait staff are always friendly and very helpful if you are not "versed" in their menu items. The open faced sandwiches have become my favorite, and of course the bread basket served is always great. The potato salad and other items are some of the freshest... More

This was the second time I have eaten at this restaurant. Decently priced with both American (burgers & fries, etc) options and Scandinavian (smorgasbord, Swedish meatballs, etc) options. Wait-staff is friendly. Right in the middle of the shopping, which is nice as you don't have to interrupt your day to find someplace to eat (that isn't a pastry shop). It's... More

We chose the smorgasboard. The salads were good, but the main course meats were just too salty. The bakery products were original Danish level, truly fantastic.

Our food was fine. We had the stuffed tomato tuna salad, grilled chicken salad, turkey sandwich and kids' meal chicken fingers. Everyone was satisfied with their food and the price wasn't bad. Also had a sampler of breads that was great. The complaint I have is that the wait staff of three (maybe one was a manager or owner?) didn't... More

We were hungry and tired and stopped here to eat lunch. I had the combo Danish sausage and meatball dish. It came with a sweet and sour red cabbage and mashed potatoes. It was a good meal. Another had their cheeseburger and it was very good. It's a small restaurant and filled with mostly tourists. There is a very good... More

We love this place. Stopped for breakfast twice during our recent stay. You can't miss at breakfast, everything is good. We had everything on the menu, just kidding, on our first outing. Had the house specialty, danish pastry balls, (not what they are really called, hash and eggs, danish sausage and eggs and then topped it off with an order... More

I saw Danish dishes all over Solvang, there's no need to go here. The staff was very nice but the good was very weak. The smorgasbord wasn't very fresh and the number of Danish unique dishes were limited to 1-2, turkey and h cold cuts don't count in my book... SKIP IT!

This is a pass. The food was horrible. My husband and I have been to europe and I can tell you for sure, it didn't taste like it came from a precooked and thaw company, or open the jar and poor, or a just add water type of cooking. The one item that we ordered that was actually worth eating... More

My husband's aunt really loved this restaurant and every time she visited from San Antonio, Texas we had to go to Solvang and eat at the Red Viking. That was about 20 years ago. I still love the restaurant and every time we are in Solvang we dine there. In fact we recently had dinner at the Red Viking on... More

My wife had the Hakkenbof, which was a chopped sirloin patty with fried onions and a sunnyside up egg on top, It was accompanied by real mashed potatoes, red cabbage and a cucumber salad. Because there isn;t much fat in sirloin, the patty was dry, The red cabbage and cucumber salad were a bit too sweet, Even so, with a... More
