They have a buffet as well as regular menu. I chose the buffet, they have the standard salad bar and a few different strange danish things, also chicken wings and mashed potatoes. Not really sure what Danish food is like but it was pretty good. The sausages and Swedish meatballs were best. Not sure it was worth $17 but had... More

The smorgasbord is so Americanized you would never know it was a Danish restaurant. We thought it might be like the food we had in Copenhagen, but it wasn't. Solvang is a lovely little tourist destination and that's what this restaurant is - just a tourist destination.

8 of us Ladies were looking for a little something. We had a wonderful lunch at Succulent Garden, so we just wanted, something to tide us over. This was a great place. Four of us had a bowl of their homemade Chicken soup, yummy. Three had their warm apple pie and ice cream, decadent. And one had Abelskimmers. Wonderful. The... More

The food is good, plentiful and has a old world flavor. Always have breakfast here at least once every visit. But the pork open face sandwich with red cabbage and mashed potatoes is also a favorite. And please have the Albelskiver and Danish Sausage ...trust me you will love it. Many things have changed in Solvang throughout the years...The Red... More

This restaurant is in the heart of Sylvain it's a relatively old restaurant. The interior is dated and could use some updating. Food was just Average. The buffet is not worth the money. The food on the buffet has been there for hours they don't swap it out with fresh food and most of the time people are not ordering... More

My wife and I were here for Danish Days, and had a late lunch (1:30pm). The waitstaff was friendly and seated us after about 10 minutes (during the festival, that was a reasonable wait). Our drinks order was taken promply and a basket of breads were brought to the table. The breads are from Olsen's Bakery in Solvang and were... More

I went by some reviews in Tripadvisor in selecting the Red Viking but it was not as good as I hoped. Not much seasoning to our meal. I had the pork; it was bland. My husband had the sausage and the flavor was anemic. The mashed potatoes were good and the red cabbage was the only thing that had some... More

Following other good recommendations to try their Danish sausage and meatballs, my hubby and I ordered a combination of both and a sampler of Swedish sandwich. The waitress was very friendly and kind in explaining the menu and helped us getting the sandwich combination that we wanted (pork, roast beef, liver pate and shrimp). She also informed us that our... More

Our family of 4 arrived in time to get the lunch rate for the smorgasbord. We chose that along with the red beer. I recommend both. The meal reminded me of my childhood (my mother's side is Danish). The meatballs were made by hand, not prefab! I ate my weight in liver loaf. There are choices for less traditional eaters... More

Review with photos: http://shrimp2.pixnet.net/blog/post/106265543 We came to Red Viking Restaurant in Solvang for having some Scandinavian/Danish food. This place may not the fanciest, but they provided good service and delicious food. I got the Danish sausage with homemade red cabbage, mashed potatos and gravy. The sausage was chewy, juicy and sort of sweet! Not exactly like the hot dog sausage.... More
