Since we'll probably never return to Solvang, and my husband is 1/2 Danish, and we're always willing to try something new, we asked the docent @ the Danish museum where to eat Danish food and she recommended Bit of Denmark. My husband ordered the meatballs and I the sausage, both with red cabbage plus cucumbers and mashed potatoes/gravy. WE loved... More

Stopped in for lunch on a day when we were in a slight hurry. Service was fast and friendly, food was good, beer was cold and the price was fair.

Nothing special here, especially for the price. The smorgasbord items were not very tasty and were "on par" with some place like Golden Corral or similar "buffets". I would have given this place 2 1/2 stars, if I could. The place needs a serious face lift, as well. The best thing was the service.

We were in Solvang for a couple of days and I thought we should have some Danish food. I liked the outside of this restaurant, so we decided to try it. The items on the fixed menu were not too appealing, so we opted for the smorgasbord. Several of the cold items were OK and some were even associated with... More

Four of us stopped for dinner here and had a very nice time. They were happy to modify the items to accommodate the tastes of my friends. I had the special chicken Parmesan which was plentiful and full of flavor. Wine and beer were a little pricey but otherwise it was a very nice dinner.

The "Danish" pork roast (4 slices) was dry. The prunes that were supposed to be there weren't. The potatoes were cold. All this for $19. The only redeeming feature was the single (!) server, bless him, who ran his posterior off to do what he could to make the customers happy. But you can only serve what the kitchen gives... More

This is a must when in Solvang. It is authentic Scandinavian food and the menu is extensive. (Yes, you can get a cheeseburger, but why?) I had roasted duck and my wife had chicken Kiev. Both served with amazing vegetables and braised purple cabbage. Mine had boiled potatoes and the Kiev had garlic mashed potatoes. Both dishes were very well... More

Fun? At a restaurant? Yes. That's because after dinner, there was a live band playing in the other room and it had a small but useable dance floor. My wife and I visited Solvang in the off season so it wasn't that crowded. The concierge at our hotel recommended Bit O' Denmark if we wanted to dance. We arrived at... More

Their specialty is Danish food, so stay away from the hamburgers and other American food. It's not their best. Everything else is very good, though. Can get very crowded between noon and 2:00.
