great food and outstanding desserts

We had great food and outstanding desserts. I must be spoiled, as even as good as the house wines were excellent, I can't see $8 per glass a little steep, sorry. They didn't a good job serving a group of 35.

We enjoyed super meals in this family-owned, family-run restaurant. I felt like I was in an English country restaurant enjoying delicious, beautifully prepared food. The menu features something to suit every palate and food choice. As an almost-vegetarian, I thoroughly enjoyed the veggie burger but could have chosen a number of other non-meat selections. My carnivorous travel companions loved their... More

Can't explain the excellent reviews as the food is quite average. The presentation is nice but tasteless. I had a ahi sandwich with clam chowder. The fish was nicely cooked but bland. The soup was worse than bland. My wife had a French dip and salad. The sandwich was unremarkable. The salad looked good, but the vinaigrette dressing was watery... More

We're so disappointed that you didn't have a great experience with us. We work really hard to stand out among the crowd, but it seems we let you down, and our food wasn't quite your style. We think you caught us on an off-day, so we hope you get a chance to return again so we can show you how... More

After walking about Solvang for an hour or two we went looking for Bacon & Brine but since it was raining and they only had out door seating we came here. What a find. Great fresh tasting food and with a bit of a unique twist. My wife had soup & salad which looked like the salad was straight from... More

I ordered a Gorgonzola and walnut salad. There were plenty of fresh greens but the walnuts were broken into pieces smaller than peas, and there were very few of them. The Gorgonzola cheese was crumbled so small it seems they crumbled maybe half a tablespoon into the entire salad. At $11 dollars this salad was primarily greens, disappointing. When you... More

This is concerning for us to read because people are usually raving about the generous portion sizes. In this business, slip ups can happen, so we're sorry that was the case here. In the future, if you alert us, we'd be happy to remedy the issue. Apologies, Mathew and Aric More

We had driven for 5 hours, it was after 6 and we were not sure where to have dinner. We walked about half a block and found this pearl. The food was excellent and the servers were very friendly, laid back and talkative. They gave us a free dessert to share unexpectedly. Delicious.

We were there for lunch. I had the split pea soup which was yellow, not green and tepid instead of hot. It was truly mediocre soup. The ciabatta bread was very good but my husband's ham and cheese was long on the bread vs the other ingrediants. We ate on the patio and the flies were everywhere. Would not return.

This feedback, while helpful, is very different from what we usually hear. Did you notify us of your dissatisfaction with the soup? We're always glad to help -- don't hesitate to raise a concern in the future. Best, Mathew and Aric More

We dropped in for lunch after walking right past it from the public parking. Pretty patio with flowers (sadly they or a fertilizer were attracting flies), but we order nearbyed at the counter, found a table and our food was brought fairly fast. My turkey burger on brioche with hand cut french fries was great: my companion had calamari and... More

A long time ago on a trip to Copenhagen, I had one of the best sandwiches of my life: Danish ham and Havarti cheese, with sliced tomatoes and lettuce, on Danish bread. It was exceptionally good, or maybe I was very hungry. In any case, I was determined to find a similar taste treat in Solvang, billed as the Danish... More

Fresco is slightly off the main tourist area in Solvang but it's worth finding it. When you first walk up it honestly doesn't look like much, just a small patio in front of a small building but looks are very deceiving. We dined on the patio because we were traveling with our dog but the inside dining room is actually... More
