Good Danish pastries

Because we were in Solvang (a Danish tourist town in California) my wife and I decided to try some Danish pastries. Olsen's has a good selection and the place smelled great. We ordered some Danish ginger cookies, an almond mocha roll and a Napoleon. All were very tasty.

When I say we had lunch, I mean we went for desserts big time - waffles, ice cream, pancakes. These Danes get everywhere and thank heavens for that - Solvang is a must visit on the PCH drive and I'd researched Olsen's beforehand - do yourself a favour and starve yourself for 24hrs before entering - go for it!

Thank you for the 5 Star Review and your patronage. Glad you enjoyed the Danish pastries Bent and Susy Olsen brought the recipes with them from the family bakery in Denmark when they moved here in 1970. My favorite is the Kringle! More

Before I went to Solvang, I did my usual research on what to do, the best places to eat, etc etc. Olsen Danish Village Bakery was on top of my list. If you were like me, you would probably want to know what to order right? I got the Dansih waffle (good!) and I fell in love with the Princess... More

Then, we were treated to a Continental breakfast by the hotel we were staying in, which happened to feature danishes by Olsen's Bakery. Ding! Ding! Ding! We haaaave a Winner!!!!! These were out of this... More

This place is fantastic. I noticed they had different items every day though. So definitely stop by more than once if you're there for the weekend. They also seemed happy to box things up separately so we could bring delicious pastries back for friends!

Thank you for the 5 Star review and your patronage. The best way to keep the pastries fresh if they are not consumed immediately is to freeze them then remove from the freezer for 30 minutes and then warm up in a toaster oven. Do not microwave Olsen's pastries are all authentic Danish pastries. Thank you again. More

This place is gonna be a must go for me when I am in Solvang from now on. There pastries are to die for! Depending on the time, this place can be packed. This is an old-fashioned Danish bakery like I remember from childhood. Their coffee was good. I did not like their expresso drinks. The pastries were delicious. The kringle was especially good. There is a huge assortment to choose from.
