Best Martinis in the Valley!

This is our go-to for happy hour. This might be the only place in town to get a great martini. And their patio on a warm night is just perfect

Thank you, fellow tripadvisors! We stopped in at Root 246 based on the recommendations and the very convenient location next to our room at Hotel Corque. By chance on our roadtrip up Hwy1 dined on prix fixe night, and loved it. Puree of cauliflower was very tasty; you would probably like it even if you don't like cauliflower Roasted Brussels... More

After a day of wine tasting this was a PERFECT end to the day. The restaurant has a sleep, sexy, upscale decor, the service staff were all incredibly attentive, and the food was amazing. The pricing was moderate but not overly expensive for what this restaurant is. First off, the complimentary bread is delicious, and very warm. All of the... More

Do not order the Wagyu Brisket for two. It had massive slices of brisket (enough for a small village) but every bite was filled with fat. Tons of fat. We were able to turn it back to the kitchen however our replacement order came super late and they claimed they were backlogged due to a busy night (retaurant was not... More

We arrived for lunch on Sunday at 1 p.m. and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. We were asked multiple times if we had coupons, and we kept saying "No," before we were seated. We were told after sitting and ordering drinks that it was a brunch buffet. The buffet was awful. The food quality and choices were awful.... More

A few years back the restaurant changed ownership. The standard Danish smorgasbord was changed into the areas best high class eatery. If you're not really hungry you can sit in the bar and enjoy the amazing appetizers like the flat breads. If you are, get ready for a meal that will bring you back next time. The lamb was wonderful... More

We've been to Root 246 many times, it's one of our stops when in Solvang, but have never been lucky enough to be in town on Tuesday or Wednesday evening for their Prix Fixe Menu. We mentioned when we were seated that this was not the menu we expected and were informed that the chef likes to try things early... More

We arrived for dinner on Friday evening. Party of 7. The only table seated at the time. It took for ever for the waitress to come over and service was just very slow. Food was not great. We just don't enjoy the food. Beef was stringy and the chicken was So salty. The menu on line was different freon the... More

Root is easily the nicest restaurant in Solvang. Our food was really delicious. We started with oysters, which were very fresh, and had the short rib and chicken 2-ways for our mains. The short rib was perfectly cooked, and oddly paired with kimchee perfectly. The chicken was also delicious. They have a fantastic wine list, and a really strong line-up... More
