Best sushi, great service

Wow doesn't begin to explain our experience tonight here. Excellent service and sushi that literally melted in our mouths. From the pickled cucumber amuse bouche to kick off the meal to the spicy tuna and rainbow rolls as our mains. We flew in yesterday from Alberta and are only here for 5 days... read more

The people are very nice and welcoming. Unfortunately, that is where it ends. The sashimi platters are obnoxiously expensive and you receive the 'chefs choice' which includes 3 samples of fish eggs, and literally 1 piece that is egg omelette. Seriously? Egg omelette sashimi? The sesame chicken is really, really salty chicken teriyaki with sesame on top. Awful. Go anywhere... More

This is one of the oldest sushi places in San Diego . Our sushi chef has been there for 30 years!!!!The reason is its one of the best . This place looks the part and delivers top quality food. Great selections to please all in your party . Happy hour daily. 5 to 630 . Special menu for both food... More

We go to Samurai quite often. The happy hour in the bar is excellent, with cut price appetizers and drinks until 6.30pm. Erik, behind the bar, remembers each guest's preferences (it is quite impressive) and creates a pleasant atmosphere. I'm not comfortable to sit in a bar alone but make an exception here. Samurai makes great sushi/sashimi etc, but the... More

Great local restaurant. Great food, atmosphere and service. Located in a shopping center on the southeast corner of Lomas Santa Fe Road and I-5. If you are not familiar with styles of Japanese food the waitstaff will gladly explain the dishes. And to top it all an appropriate wine list and great cocktails.

We have been dining at the Samurai for over 20 years and after visiting again this week, I was impressed - again- at the consistency. The same people still work there. The visuals and design are as they have always been (and work) and even though it has gone to another generation in the family (though I'm sure dad is... More

A group of us booked a table here having not met up for a long time. The ambiance was good and the Teppanyaki was a great choice, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. Soup & salad were good appetisers and there was such a wide choice of main dishes, rice and vegetables that all of the party were well catered for.... More

What a wonderful restaurant to have a peaceful teppan-styled dining experience. The location is in north San Diego County in Solana Beach California. The parking is open and free, the ambience of the restaurant is very pleasing to the eyes, the service is supurb and the teppan chef was great. The food is prepared before you on a grill and... We love sushi, my husband and I. Though we've been frequenting Samurai for over 30 years, we regularly check out other sushi houses and continue to return. We first went to the 101 location before it burned down and got hooked on Samurai then. With their reopening off on Lomas Santa Fe, we were happy to see the original staff... More

We have been going to Samurai for years and not once have we been disappointed! the atmosphere is traditional Japanese! Nice ambiance, you could even say its a bit romantic! They serve you hot towels, crab or cucumber salad and edemame to start, a nice touch! Our favorites, Sunomo salad, the best we have ever had! Catepillar roll, spicy tomato,... More
