I've been coming to this restaurant for 9 years. Many company outings, and at least 1 time a week to eat and have a drink in the bar. We know the wait staff, and it was somewhat pleasant for many years until last night. Don't know what got into him. There were exactly 9 people in the bar when we... More

This family restaurant provides authentic. tasty Mexican food and drinks in a charming and unique atmosphere. The building itself is an unusual structure, with numerous rooms, connected by short stairways..so, do beware that if you have any sort of physical handicap, it may be a challenge. Also, one can wait quite a while for a table at popular dining hours.... More

I used to leave close by in the mid 70's and ate here all the time. I was visiting close by and met a friend there for dinner. It is just as good as I remembered and my friend really liked it as well.

The architecture of this place is bizarre. You encounter stairs everywhere, so if you have a handicapped person in your party-----beware. The food was OK, but the service was terrible. We had a long wait to give our orders, long after the beverages came, and then an even longer wait for our dinners to arrive.......and it was a Tuesday, not... More

My family has been eating here for many many years. It is both a terrific neighborhood restaurant and a great California Mexican restaurant. It is iconic and a treasure. It's just a wonderful place to eat with a great atmosphere and terrific service and food. Be sure to try the tortilla soup..

Fidel's is a wonderful Mexican restaurant with excellent food. The menu is diverse and the place is great with many nooks and cranny's where tables are set up. We had a great dinner for 8, (4) kids and (4) adults, and we were seated in no time.

My passion for Mexican food started in El Paso, Texas way back in 1970. Living in Pittsburgh we don't have very many good Mexican restaurants. So on this vacation, I dedicated myself to Mexican and seafood. The seafood was very pricey and windmill I had contain crab was fishy. Ugh! The recommendation at St. Theresa's thrift shop for Fidel's. I... More

The restaurant is cool, kinda funky, with many seating areas, including a nice patio. The food is decent, but pretty standard Mexican food for California. Prices are decent. I did not have a drink there. Ok for families with older kids. We had an infant, and the building is not really stroller friendly.

Decent food, but really standard California Mexican fare. I'd have no problem eating here again, but to me it's no different than any other standard California Mexican place. Margarita's are fine, but from a mix. Many places do it better these days.

I've been going to Fidel's in Solana Beach since the 1970's. Since then, I've traveled many miles and eaten a lot of Mexican food, but Fidel's is still my all time favorite. I especially enjoy their soups: Albondigas, Fideo, and Chicken and Rice. All are delicious as is my other favorite menu item, cabbage salad. Of course they have the... More
