Great, authentic food, chips and salsa tasty. They have all the standard Mexican entrees and sides as well as unique special dishes as well. Service is inconsistent, sometimes really good and quick, other times very, very slow. Fidels is my first choice for Mexican food in San Diego.

I used to go to Fidel's at least once a week, their food was always consistently good, now it is less reliable. I always loved the Carnitas Plate and the half suprema, unfortunately the food was recently delivered to me cold, they forgot to bring it out! This used to be the go to place in Solana Beach, I do... In a town where authentic Mexican food is on every corner Fidel's is surely one of a kind. Great food. Good service. If you've never been you have no idea what you're missing. They are very generous with their portions. Our family loves this place. We've been regulars for 20 years! Still my favorite!!!

Not advisable to drive after 2 margaritas at Fidels. I ordered the bottom margarita (the most expensive one in the menu) and was not disappointed. Again, I wish I wasn't driving home. The place was surprisingly big. Downstairs appear to be the restaurant area and upstairs, the bar area. I was at the bar and had 2 tacos -- carnitas... More

I thinks what draws people to this place is that it's big and white, with lots of crap around the building. It certainly is not the food and dining experience. Four of us went here one evening as I was told to eat somewhere different than my usual place next door.We were seated into tiny room with no a/c or... More

Usually great fun to eat here, but depends upon where you sit. My wife and I come here about twice a month, the food is great and the selection of drinks is okay, but could be better.

So close to Mexico on my recent first visit to San Diego, I thought we should have some authentic Mexican cuisine. We opted for Fidel's, based on good reviews. The venue is cute, and on the day we were there, strolling musicians. The food did not wow us. We appreciated the plentiful chips and salsa, which was unlike any salsa... More

I've been coming to this restaurant for 9 years. Many company outings, and at least 1 time a week to eat and have a drink in the bar. We know the wait staff, and it was somewhat pleasant for many years until last night. Don't know what got into him. There were exactly 9 people in the bar when we... More

This family restaurant provides authentic. tasty Mexican food and drinks in a charming and unique atmosphere. The building itself is an unusual structure, with numerous rooms, connected by short stairways..so, do beware that if you have any sort of physical handicap, it may be a challenge. Also, one can wait quite a while for a table at popular dining hours.... More

I used to leave close by in the mid 70's and ate here all the time. I was visiting close by and met a friend there for dinner. It is just as good as I remembered and my friend really liked it as well.
