Located across from the Del Mar Fairgrounds and Race Track, our third restaurant has been a San Diego North County favorite since it opened in 1981. This bustling restaurant encourages friendly and convivial dining, with the help of a comfortable oyster bar and cozy cocktail bar and lounge, and front-and-center retail market, widely known by those seeking to take home the finest in fresh fish. We also offer a private room suitable for a large party gathering.

Now that's fresh!

As you enter the Fish Market there is in fact a fish market counter. Fresh fish can be purchased and it looked superior! Being far to lazy to cook tonight we were seated. I grew up going to the Fish Market after various sporting events in the area so maybe I am a little nostalgic but it is pretty darn good. It all starts with their amazing, warm, crispy sourdough bread that they bring to each table. Then, of course, the fresh fish is where you want to live. Sashimi, smoked albacore, any... More

We stayed at the Winners Circle right next door to the Fish Market. Knew nothing about this place. Well .. coming from the coastline of Maine we sorta know about fish. This place is excellent. Upscale, attenrive service, owner on premises, fresh fish & imaginative menu. I had the crab avocado dip appetizer which was only ok, however the Mexican... More

There were two entrees on the menu that were not seafood. The Fish Market takes its seafood very seriously. I don't think you can go wrong here if you like fish. Most places in Solana Beach are not very crowded in January and the Fish Market is a large restaurant, but it was probably 75% full when we were there.... More

We decided to revisit during San Diego Restaurant Week for the $30 fixed price dinner. Great starters in calamari, smoked salmon, and others. I had the miso salmon for dinner, and my wife had the prawn pasta in a garlic sauce, with crime brûlée and key lime pie for dessert. They were all great. The creme brûlée was top notch.... More

It's a small chain... however every location that we've been to has had fresh fish. You can order today's catch or if you prefer shell fish they have them too! I've always enjoyed the clams, mussels duckets bucket. My wife loved the Halibut, so very tasty and fresh. This location is across the street from the Del Mar Race track.... More

The quality of fish is top notch and it is prepared well too. For this reason, I give 5 stars however they don't offer much in greens. The grilled vegetables are not good and neither is the cole slaw. The bread is really good. I would recommend eating there and hope they improve the greens.

We were seated at about 1.30 on a Tuesday afternoon. Husband got grilled chicken with salad and potato augraten, daughter got Fish and chips(panko) -she loved it, son got clam chowder and I tried some and we both loved it and I got fish tacos and was filling and yum! Good portions and the service was excellent.

Per local recommendations, I visited The Fish Market (with family) this past New Years Eve. Very lively atmosphere, and not too crowded -- we were able to get a seat quickly after coming in the door. Our waitress (I forgot her name) was very friendly and attentive. I ended up trying one of the specials for the evening, the steak... More
