We come here every year for vacation on Shaver Lake. The food is great, l would come for the spinach salad alone. But you can't get a side potato and the mushrooms are very limited. It probably has to do with the availability of produce this far up the mountain. But a fun lodge atmosphere and nice 1960s and 70s... More

We go to Camp Edison at Shaver Lake every summer. One tradition is to dine at the Trading Post restaurant. It is a homey place that was first established in 1927 (according to legend) and looks like it hasn't changed very much. So step back in time for a great dinner in the mountains. We always enjoy the food and... More

We love to go here for dinner since it is so close to home. Reservations are suggest on busy nights. We most recently had the prime rib which was good. Service is always good. Atmosphere is nice since it is a woodsy, log place with old décor. Menus pretty much is always the same. Love their spinach salad and the... More

We actually live in Shaver Lake and the people in our community consider it a nice evening out to go to dinner at The Trading Post. Great menu with many options and everything I have had to eat there has been fantastic. Reservations needed. Located up in the High Sierras above Fresno, CA. It is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL area. In... The Trading Post Restaurant is the ONLY restaurant in Shaver Lake with a full dinner menu. Did I mention it is only open for dinner? It is locally owned and operated and has a 4-star menu. It serves everything from steaks, chicken, to seafood -- all expertly prepared. Reservations are recommended but not required most nights. If you are looking... More

We went for a birthday dinner for my husband after fishing at Shaver Lake, 6 of us. The service was good and the appetizers (we ordered wings & escargo) and salad were excellent! My husband and my mother in law both ordered the rib eye steak, one medium rare and one well done. While both steaks were cooked correctly, they... More

I'm sure your experience was not the best because you! I am from So Cal, and the world is in dire need of Shaver and places like it!!! Try being a bit appreciative of locals doing their best to work to keep a dream alive. People have been loving this place and keeping it alive for almost 90 years!! It's... More

We went on a Friday night and our lodge said we would need to make reservations which they did for us. They called at 5:30 and the earliest we could get in was 8pm. The place was packed and VERY noisy. The wait staff were extremely busy and were like ants, they were everywhere, but the service was extremely slow.... More

Charming place with fast friendly service. Ate outside under redwoods. Small menu but food was tasty. Had shrimp tacos & friends had fish (halibut) tacos. Small handmade flour tortillas very good. Perfect lunch while on the road.

Shaver Lake is a small mountain resort area with very few options for dining. Luckily, The Trading Post is here. We like this place because you can get good food at a reasonable price in an historic building right here in the mountains. The steaks are great. Homemade soups delicious. They serve dinner only. Check the days and times open.... More
