Mediocre restauarant and overpriced

This was our first visit and really only stopped here since we were car shopping at the Selma Auto mall. I had the Rueben with fries. I have visited this place many times. This is my first review as Selma has so few restaurants. This was a fine place to meet for business lunch. But choices seem small. We had a cob salad and chicken Cesar salad. Nothing special or outstanding as chicken was over cooked and dry. Lettuce was salad mix and later gave me... More

Food is still the same as last year but the prices are way to high now. I don't think that we will be coming back with these prices.

The menu was a rather limited. The food was good with average to slightly high prices. The location was conveniently located by the Holiday Inn. The ambience was very mixed with the old german/swiss theme being confused with the califormia raisin statue. Not a bad choice but it wasn't somewhere we would go out of our way to visit.

We don't go there often. Prices are a little high and never get a coupon or discount. The service could be better. I love the outside though. Ponds, waterfalls, swans, fire pit, sitting areas and some times the train is running. The bread is out of this world.

So I left a review a while back and had a not so decent experience. There was a management response to my review so I thought I'd give them the benifit of the doubt and try again. I was pleasantly surprised. The service was very attentive and we all finished our plates. I think we came on a bad day... More

We had a great meal of both tri-tip and ham with steamed vegetables and rice pilaf. There was salad and a choice of desserts - I liked the cheesecake. The service was good.

We hosted a reception at the Spike and Rail on December 9 2014. The staff were wonderful and the food was delicious. The menu choices were numerous and suited our group in a very good way.

Have had lunch here a couple of times, mainly to have their barbequed tritip - it is some of the best I've had!
