Went in on a Thursday evening for our first time and we loved it! It was decently crowded, but we had no trouble getting a table for 2. We got guacamole to go with the chips/salsa. Also we got nachos, and for dinner one of us had a chimichanga with chicken, and the other had carnitas. Everything was delicious! It... More

We've eaten at this small family owned and operated restaiurant several times and keep coming back. The food is high quality and authentic. My favorite meal is the chile verde with corn tortillas. The tomatillo sauce that surrounds the sumptuous pork is delicious. Try the tap cervezas. I like Modelo Especial.as a perfect addition to the meal. Sometimes I have... More

I stumbled across this little restaurant as I saw how crowded it was. I was seated quickly and had a drink and chips within 5 mins. The food then arrived quickly and it was the best Mexican Fish Tacos I have every Had!! Nancy was my waitress and she was wonderful and very attentive to not only me, but all... More

We had late breakfast, both of us ordered Huevos Rancheros. Very good! Great salsa! Restaurant décor is typical of most small family-owned businesses. Staff is very cordial and helpful. Only downfall is lack of parking. Paid $10 to park next door to restaurant. Would choose this restaurant again.

Tried this place because I have seen it for years. It's a very standard Mexican place with uninspired food. Wife's shrimp cocktail was actually very good, lots of very good shrimp. My chile verde was ok with the standar beans and rice. Service was good with a good atmosphere.

Around so long it should be given landmark status, we found Jose's serving even better food than we'd remembered. I combined a Chile relleno with a beef enchilada -- both were generous and delectable, along with the usual accompaniment of rice and beans. They also serve a fine crab enchilada as an occasional special, but unfortunately not that day.

This place was awesome! Great food, friendly and fast service, and clean. I left my credit card there on accident and they kept it safe for me too. Five stars! We will be sure to go back whenever we are in the Monterey area.

We stopped here for margaritas after walking along Cannery Row. Margaritas were large, tasty, and only $6.50 each!

We have been to Jose's twice now and loving every bite of it!! The 7 mares soup and shrimp burrito are two of our favorites. The portion was generous and the taste was fresh and excellent! The wait staffs are friendly and helpful. The small parking lot only has entrance from one side, but it's worth the little detour if... More
