Excellent, inexpensive

Beginning our drive down Highway 1, looking for some Asian food. Happened upon this gem, it is really a "bar" no tables. Food was delicious and $8 for a very large portion. My advise, stop here for lunch and avoid the mediocre and over priced food in Carmel Village.

Very old, worn place that is clean and serves up fast tasty dishes. The prices are fast food cheap. The food is healthier than American fast food joints and easier on the waist line. Enjoy!

In spite of a plethora of overadvertised, overhyped and overpriced so-so restaurants on the Monterey Peninsula, here's one that's sweet & to the point: if you like typical Asian "fast-food"- meaning a noodle bar sort of establishment- and if you don't mind a crowded counter-only setting (11 persons max!) with no-nonsense (but polite) service AND you like decent Asian-type soup... Food is consistently good. Service is quick and accurate. It's all counter service, so be prepared to eat with others...and be prepared to wait if you aren't the first in line! Prices are excellent. Try the spicy wings and the pho.

Great noodles, very funky atmosphere. This was the most satisfying vegetarian meal I had on our whole weekend trip. It wasn't the cleanest looking place, and the stools were crowded, but there were Vietnamese customers and plenty of folks coming on for take out-always a good sign.

Had a great lunch at the Noodle Bar. Food was great, service was just ok (must have been a bad day), love the bar concept. The negative is the place looked filthy. Bathroom was dirty, and overal the place looks like its time for a top down cleaning. I will go back and hope to find it a bit cleaner... More

As the other reviews say, it's small, so perhaps better for take out, but we ate at the counter and were not disappointed. Friendly owner, quick service, large portions, low prices, and good Vietnamese food. What's not to like? Didn't try the pho, but the 2 noodle dishes we had were great, as was the veggie/tofu stir fry. We'll be... More

This place is a small hole in the wall, and can get crowded around dinner time, but it doesn't stop us. Very 'quick and dirty' service and is very inexpensive, but large portions. It is cash-only though so don't forget money - they have an ATM but who likes to pay fees? =) Don't let the outside intimidate you from... More

Noodle Bar is an experience! Truly it is a little 'hole in the wall' restaurant but it's big on tasty food. We always order a big bowl of Pho (chicken or beef, depending on our mood). Noodle Bar doesn't use MSG so their soup broth is not overly salty like at some Pho restaurants. I usually order a chicken dish... More

I will admit, I'm a pho snob. I went there for the pho, and because of the positive reviews was expecting something decent. But I was hugely disappointed. First off, you have Chinese, not Vietnamese making the pho. It lacked the depth and herbal flavors I'm accustomed to eating. The pho was barely edible. Perhaps some of their other options... More
