Loved it, great food, great price. Very authentic, perfect tortillas. Fresh carrot juice and other varieties. Not as pricey as other healthy fresh food places. Lots of locals.

Oaxacan mole sandwich is great, nice family atmosphere. The waitresses are always so busy, but it is worth the little bit of extra time it takes. Do not go here for Tex-mex or you standard issue burritos, they are best at the Oaxacan flavors!

Small place, good food at good prices. We've always been disappointed with the Mexican restaurants in this area. Being from Houston, we know good Mexican food. This place has the stuff. Dark mole, great soups and excellent chile relleno. Good desserts too. Plus the portions are large.

I was in Monterey all week on business and blundered into this place. The food is based on the Oaxaca region in Mexico so it tastes different then your basic, standard issue mexican fare. I went here twice for dinner; both times I was the only white person there. The atmosphere is very laid back; I would not hesitate to bring... More

This is no frills place to eat but the food was "awesome". The food is based on the state of Oaxaca in Mexico. Very different but fresh made. I had a chili relleno that was stuffed with cheese and brought out in a bowl laced with tomatoes and broth. It did have a batter on the relleno but the way... More

Love the food and the ambiance here. Service is excellent too. The whole place reminds me of a truly authentic Mexican restaurant (a far cry from those westernized Mexican places like Baja Fresh). Great seating and decor made my first eating experience here fantastic. Very cute! Our waiter first brought out the tortilla chips and salsa and it was super... More

After spending a day at the wharf, my boyfriend and I were looking for something other than seafood. We were staying at a hotel on North Fremont, so we decided to venture out. La Tortuga was one of the first Mexican places that caught our eye! Outside, the restaurant looks run down, but the excitement came when I took a... More

My girlfriend and I came here at 8:30 on a saturday night. We were craving "Hole in the wall" type Mexican food with no frills attached. This place fit the bill perfectly! I had a " Burrito de Asada" with everything. It was just what I was craving and was huge!!!! It must have weighed well over a pound! I... More
