Brought here by a relative we were visiting. We all ordered something with fried squid. Wife and I thought the squid were overbreaded, overcooked and pretty tasteless. We were expecting tender small calamari and these appeared to be strips of large squid. Service was just fine. Not a place we'll ever come back to. We've had so much really good... More

Staff is outstanding and for the most part have been there for many years. Best sign that the staff is treated fairly. Fish dishes are fresh and flavorful. Plate presentation is appealing and more what one would expect from a more expensive restaurant. Specials are local, fresh and beautifully presented. Portions are generous. Key Lime pie is the best but... More

From it's exterior presentation, it probably isn't a place you would just stop in. But looks can be deceptive, the food was just delicious, the staff was very friendly and the cost was great for the value

Had the fisherman's bowl. Very yummy - price may be a bit higher but it's still reasonable! I can recommend this restaurant to people who want to eat good (local) seafood and want to come as they are ;) Service was verify friendly.

Fast food environment with acceptable service and good food. Most dishes are in the $15 - $18 range served on throw away plates.

Are here after finding it on TA- really good food at a reasonable price. Wide range of fish and shellfish dishes with some chicken and veggie for non fish eaters. All great - after reading review advice our party tried a few of the specials which were great - the Cajun tilapia and barramundi were particularly fine. Paid $90 for... More

We visited this restaurant in late August last year (2013) and I meant to write a review then. After coming across an equally surprising and good restaurant a few days ago back in the UK for which I wrote a review I thought I should write a belated one for the Fishwife. The food was excellent and both our fish... More

This is one of those Restaurants that someone has to tell you about, in order for you to know to eat there. The seafood is some of the best on the Monterey Peninsula, from local fish companies. It is locally owned, and attracts many locals as repeat customers, a very good sign.

I was a commercial fisherman when I was younger and better lookin.. I have a very high standard when it comes to seafood restaurants. Fresh fish should not taste fishy... The Fishwife is one of my favorite Seafood Restaurants of all time. Their pasta dishes and their fishermans bowls are awesome. There is more seafood than pasta or rice in... More

Living in Monterey for 15 years we learned there are two Fishwife restaurants in the Monterey area. One in Pacific Grove, the other in Seaside. During this particular week long stay in the area we enjoyed both Fishwife restaurants with our friends from the East Coast. Both restaurants were good… but the Fishwife in Seaside holds a special place for... More
