Fresh seafood without the fuss

I've been here many times with my family for dinner & occasionally for lunch. My kids love the clam chowder. My husband, who doesn't like seafood, loves the salad with grilled chicken done Cajun style. I recommend the sole fish, snapper, calamari or just about anything. Very welcoming! The regular fish n chips is tilapia but they will substitute cod for $1. Good portions on fish and chowder bowl. My husband really liked the chowder. His serving of garlic bread was a bit small but tasty.

Fabulous Mexican seafood, but expect to pay a higher price than the neighborhood more casual competition. The interior dining areas are slightly nicer than the neighbors. The exterior tables are the same black wire metal that others offer.

After a day of travel we landed in Seaside on a Sat night looking for quality, no frills, fresh local seafood and found it at The FishWife . The light sauces do not overwhelm the seafood. Perfect Calamari and Halibut steaks. No ambiance; just great service and food. Real local dining. We will be back.

I was passing through Monterey with my wife and three kids and this place looked really promising based on the reviews. It's a modest restaurant, very unpretentious and the people are exceptionally warm and polite. The food was AMAZING. We had shrimp cocktails which came in a cocktail glass smothered in some sort of pico/cocktail sauce blend. I've never had... More

Dined here on a trip to the area last year. Still great food, and the prices are very reasonable for this area. Lots of good daily specials. Lobster Bisque was the soup of the day, and was excellent, maybe the best I have ever had. A must when in the area.

Fishwife has innovative salads & fish entrees. Recipes garnered from Central & South America. Local fish, greens & desserts. Very casual restaurant in heart of town. Sidewalk seating & 2 areas for inside dining. Really filled with locals in this location & their Pacific Grove location. We love the Sea Garden Salads & Tilipia Cancun entrees. Both locations have had... More

Long time local favorite. Lots of fried food but they will adjust. Soup of the day. Cioppino on Friday. Take out, eat in or eat outside under umbrellas in more European fashion. Servers who care.

A friend and myself stopped by Fishwife in Seaside for lunch. I had catfish and chips and she had a calamari sandwich. Both were above average and the servers were friendly and timely. The restaurant is rather plain inside and clean but needs a little more seafood atmosphere. It does have outside sitting which is great! All in all the... More

5 stars for food, but 3 stars for ambience. Enjoyed our lunch at the fishwife at Pebble Beach so we tried this Seaside location the next day. Food was just as good but the ambience was definitely inferior. The interior was very plain, no tablecloth, silverware wrapped in paper napkins. Service was friendly and efficient. We had the daily special... More
