Always good eats!

Fishwife has innovative salads & fish entrees. Recipes garnered from Central & South America. Local fish, greens & desserts. Very casual restaurant in heart of town. Sidewalk seating & 2 areas for inside dining. Really filled with locals in this location & their Pacific Grove location. We love the... read more

I was passing through Monterey with my wife and three kids and this place looked really promising based on the reviews. It's a modest restaurant, very unpretentious and the people are exceptionally warm and polite. The food was AMAZING. We had shrimp cocktails which came in a cocktail glass smothered in some sort of pico/cocktail sauce blend. I've never had... More

Dined here on a trip to the area last year. Still great food, and the prices are very reasonable for this area. Lots of good daily specials. Lobster Bisque was the soup of the day, and was excellent, maybe the best I have ever had. A must when in the area.

Long time local favorite. Lots of fried food but they will adjust. Soup of the day. Cioppino on Friday. Take out, eat in or eat outside under umbrellas in more European fashion. Servers who care.

A friend and myself stopped by Fishwife in Seaside for lunch. I had catfish and chips and she had a calamari sandwich. Both were above average and the servers were friendly and timely. The restaurant is rather plain inside and clean but needs a little more seafood atmosphere. It does have outside sitting which is great! All in all the... More

5 stars for food, but 3 stars for ambience. Enjoyed our lunch at the fishwife at Pebble Beach so we tried this Seaside location the next day. Food was just as good but the ambience was definitely inferior. The interior was very plain, no tablecloth, silverware wrapped in paper napkins. Service was friendly and efficient. We had the daily special... More

Fresh fish presented in a straight forward manner. Both dishes we tried were excellent. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Modest prices. Ambiance was casual, clean and simple. Take out service is available and was very busy. Very popular with locals. Definitely not our last visit.

My husband and I live in Marina, CA, (7 miles north of Monterey) and we have friends who are a couple who were coming to town for the AT&T golf tournament. I knew with the golf going on, Valentine's Day on Saturday, and President's Day on Monday that we should choose a restaurant early on and make a reservation. Our... More

What was once a twice monthly stop has been sadly disappointing over the past few years and just over the last 6 months we'd sworn off it. Giving it one last chance was a mistake. Poorly prepared food (fish should not smell and taste fishy, even on a Sunday), jacked up prices, poor cleaning (just check out the vents in... More

Interesting Caribbean and Central American dishes with seafood as central item. Creative and fun, good value.
