Outstanding Food & Service!

Recently enjoyed an outstanding meal & dining experience at The Basin. The Spanish-inspired Paella Pequena small plate is a must. Heady flavors of saffron-infused chorizo & shrimp - as delicious as any similar small plate found in Spain. Both the "Angry Pasta" dish and fish of the day (Halibut... read more

I love downtown Saratoga and was happy to patronize The Basin with a group from work, celebrating a birthday. We shared oysters (just ok) and truffle fries (don't be deceived, it was a $7 bowl of french fries with a side of ketchup). Most in our group ordered steak - a huge cut, well prepared by all accounts. Presentation was... More

I've never been disappointed at The Basin. My two favorite dishes right now are the Mushroom pasta (sounds simple - but it's delicious), and the fresh cut pasta with the Spanish ham (forget the name -- Pata ___?) My biggest issue is that now I can't decide which to order -they are both FABULOUS! The menu is full of fabulous... More

If you're not interested in paying enormous sums of money the Plumed Horse charges, The Basin (while not cheap) is the place to go. Great food, good wine list and great staff. We love going there.

Definitely a place for carnivores with some extra money in there wallet. Heidi is a delightful waitress. She is knowledgeable and accommodating. The food is pretty good. The acoustics aren't conducive to a business dinner but are ok for a group of friends or a couple that already knows one another. The small downtown of Saratoga is great to walk... More

Was here for a business dinner with about 25 people. Had the Rad Mix Salad, a nice variation on a Caesar, and the Exotic Mushroom Rigatoni. The dish was recommended to me, but though interesting, I thought it fell a bit flat. I expected more exotic mushrooms and it seemed basically kind of blah. Service and wine selection was excellent.... More

We live in Saratoga for over 40 year, absolutely our favorite dinner place! I have my usual Liver and Onions or Fish Special, and my husband always the "Special" of the night or the delicious NY thick steak the best in the bay area. I love the freshness of the food, so clean and tasty! Hard to find this unique... More

I wanted to like it. Like a pretty girl who had no substance. Service at the bar was fair to poor. Bar tender had an attitude and never refilled water unless we asked. Liver was overcooked and tastless. I sent it back and it was still tasteless. Never asked if I liked it the 2nd time. Ingredients seem to be... More

The Basin is hands-down my favorite restaurant in Saratoga Village. It's easy to find something for everyone on the Spanish-inspired menu, and it's always executed to perfection. The atmosphere gets a little crazy and crowded, with a lively bar scene for such a small bar. Reservations are definitely recommended. The wine list is outstanding, and the cocktails well-crafted. I wish... More
