We had lunch at La Mere Michelle. They weren't busy, but it took a long time to have our order taken and more than 30 minutes for our sandwiches to arrive, which was a bit off-putting. The decor is a bit dated, but has a comfortable charm. The food was good. I had a chicken club sandwich which was made... More

Not the best steak I've ever eaten (it contained a few nerves), not a really cheap place, but an oasis of service. After tip hunting waiters eager to drop the check on our table, La Mere Michelle was a great place to be. Our waitress knew how to keep enough distance, yet serve us very well. An when it was... This place has been there forever and I've eaten there a few times. Each time I go I don't feel ripped off but I am underwhelmed. The folks are really nice and the service is good but the food is average. We had steak and lobster. The steak was good, the lobster was average, a little tough and soaked in... More

Run down and tired. Great carrots though, but not sure the fish was as fresh as the price was. Dessert had sat around a bit.

The restaurant has been in Saratoga since the early 70s and is family run. Very excellent French cusine

Pros: - greeted warmly by hostess Michelle and by waitress - outstanding buttery Shiitake mushrooms with fresh prawns - well executed grilled salmon and chicken breast with mushroom risotto dishes, each coming with wonderful spinach souffle - affordable wine list with strong European emphasis - faded but nice ambience was a warm throwback forty years ago to the French restaurants... Better onion soup than Paris or Montreal - and I mean it! My husband tries it everywhere and in 3 trips to the City of Light, he has never had such a good bowl of this soup. Other menu items were excellent, including all homemade desserts (ice cream too). Yes, it is a bit pricey, especially for lunch. But the... More

I come from out of town, but when in Saratoga, I always want to eat at La Mere Michelle. The service is extraordinary and the food is creative and delicious. It is located right downtown in Saratoga, which is a quaint area. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is a bit pricey, which is the only drawback.

I had an excellent bacon wrapped filet mignon, which the waiter asked the chef to prepare since it wasn't on the menu. He had no problem at all accommodating my request, was happy to do so. Very nicely prepared and excellent piece of meat accompanied with perfectly cooked green beans. My wife wasn't overly impressed with the prix fixe pork... More

Horrible food, terrible service. Steak inedible - sent back and the same steak returned ! Finally, after that was refused an ok steak appeared but after I'd finished my meal. No apologies, no comp., just seemed to be the normal. Not surprising that on a Friday night it was nearly empty.
