Best for French Food

My wife and I had dinner there last night and it was a very pleasant experience. I had a Filet mignon and she had the bordelaise prawns, both were delicious and we chose the Quiche as a starter and the chocolate "ball" as a desert. Dave was our waiter, and gave us some great recommendations. Overall, food and service were... More

We were looking for a nice local place close to the Hyatt resort and read good reviews. The menu looked nice. We arrived at 6 p.m. on a Saturday night and the place was packed full of noisy, large family groups. Tables are VERY close together and booths that should accommodate 4-6 people were packed so tightly with 6-8 people.... More

Nice atmosphere but outdated or old school, whichever you prefer. for those prices, I'd prefer more artistry in the cooking.

I went to this restaurant because I hadn't had French food for a long time and was craving it. I looked at the favorable reviews and decided to try it. I had a traditional dish, coque au vin. It was good but it lacked the flavor I remembered. It didn't taste fresh and it lacked the flavor of the wine.

Had two dinners at La Gare in Santa Rosa, CA last week. First one, spur of the moment was a solo dining event after I walked over from the Hyatt Vineyard...about 1 block away. Ambiance, general decorum, and the friendly and professional style and greetings by the co-owner [Jacki??] and my waiter, Mark, made me feel like I was a... More

Have wanted to check out La Gare for a long time and this was a nice way to rekindle memories of our Paris trip last year. So at La Gare - Enjoyed delicious sauces such as on the Escalope de veau dijonaise and the Prawns sautéed bordelaise. Had an exceptional !!special of crab cake appetizer. Made sure to try dessert... We hadn't been to La Gare for a while and when my sister was visiting from out of town, we decided to go. They were featuring halibut, one of our favorites. To say that the meal, the service, and the ambiance were superb, is an understatement. Words fail, truly. The service was perfect, from the young man who gave us... More

this is a classic normal french restaurant, like may who travelled France, Belgium, Luxembourg or that area. But because it is in the US wine lands of Sonoma it becomes special. The ceiling is low (not sure if I recognized an AC, which felt good to me; but it was winter) The tables a re formed in relative bistro styl... More

The Wine Country offers many fine eating establishments, LaGare is one of the finest. Although not an "Over the Top" experience, we related the ambience to European style, attentive service and truly delicious cuisine.
