Best for French Food

La Gare has been a well established restaurant for years. The owners and chef have been putting out clasic french fare consistently and with very good quality. With your entree you get soup and salad included, which you just don't find in many restaurants these days. If you go early you can beat... read more

We were visiting Santa Rosa and celebrating our anniversary so asked at the Visitors Center for a recommendation. This was it, just around the corner downtown so we made a reservation and were not disappointed. All the meals include soup and Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was one of the best we have had in a long time. The fresh... More

We have been to La Gare several times over the years when visiting the Santa Rosa area. We can't complain about the meals we have had at other restaurants in the area but we like La Gare the best. The service is excellent and you feel like family not just another customer. They have a nice selection of wines by... More

Enjoyed the evening with six friends. Menu was not inspiring - beef dish was OK. Wife had special of the day - pork shanks - which she said was good. No starters, brought the wine and paid $15 corkage. Shared desert - tab $105 for my wife and I. Not as expensive as some other French Restaurants I know but... More

While we had a difficult time choosing a restaurant in Santa Rosa, we certainly hit a home run when we selected La Gare. The food and service were exceptional. The ambience was nice, but who cares when you can enjoy food this good. I ordered fresh Halibut, which was beyond excellent in a butter-white wine sauce. The entrée came with... More

My beautiful bride & I had a very enjoyable time. The staff was very knowledgeable. The dinner was very well executed and so tender.

My wife and I had dinner there last night and it was a very pleasant experience. I had a Filet mignon and she had the bordelaise prawns, both were delicious and we chose the Quiche as a starter and the chocolate "ball" as a desert. Dave was our waiter, and gave us some great recommendations. Overall, food and service were... More

We were looking for a nice local place close to the Hyatt resort and read good reviews. The menu looked nice. We arrived at 6 p.m. on a Saturday night and the place was packed full of noisy, large family groups. Tables are VERY close together and booths that should accommodate 4-6 people were packed so tightly with 6-8 people.... More

Nice atmosphere but outdated or old school, whichever you prefer. for those prices, I'd prefer more artistry in the cooking.
