A depressing place that we would not visit again. Inattentive servers, unpleasant atmosphere. Dine elsewhere.

The restaurant is very dark. Some nice original dishes on the menu. First of all, order the crispy egg rolls. There is really no reason not to, they are delicious. Second, order one of the ice creams for dessert. Its a great way to end the meal. As far as the entree goes, I would share if possible. I was... More

Was just in town for one night and Chinese food sounded good. Found this place in the older downtown area and was pleased with my dinner. It has a pleasant atmosphere and the Mongolian beef was very good. The waiter was friendly and attentive. Good value for the price.

I know - you don't come to the wine country to have Chinese. But you need to try this place. I've been here at least two dozen times, and I'll keep coming back. It's a little pricey for Chinese, but worth every penny. Favorites include honey walnut shrimp, general Tso's, asparagus wrapped with rib-eye, and the sizzling rice soup with... More

I have been to Gary Chu's multiple times and each time I go, the experience has been pleasant. The food is delicious and the prices reasonable. I do not understand the people here complaining about the price.... Since when is Chinese food supposed to be "cheap"? If you want cheap Chinese food, then go to Panda Express. Honestly, I never... By the time we had gotten the attention of someone to mention we hadn't received our entire order we were just about done with dinner. There were 9 of us at one of the large tables. Our order wasn't complicated. The portions are on the small size compared to many Chinese restaurants. Food is really good and fresh. Go back... More

We moved from New Jersey 2 years ago and were desperate for good quality Chinese food in the Healdsburg area. We found Gary Chu's a year ago and we eat there 2 or 3 times a month. The fact that they got Nubu's Martini Prawns right is a testament to the quality of the food here. We really like the... More

This is definitely my favorite Chinese food in Santa Rosa. I order their lunch specials for lunch at work more often than I care to admit - I just can't get enough of their food! I have ordered every lunch special on the menu and they have never let me down. The szechuan lamb is to die for!

I must admit going frequently to Gary Chu's with family and friends - sometimes for lunch but more often for dinner. Every single time we take out of town guests, they rave about this place. Yesterday, it just happened again in a phone call with recent visitors. That conversation has prompted me to write a review. We have several all-time... More

Yes, they use fresh ingredients... but then they make them taste like every other restaurant of this type. I just don't get the raves. Is it worth the expensive price tag? Not for me. I will say that I don't eat fish... so perhaps I'm missing something here... but all of my dishes were heavily sauced and just ok.
