Our two visits rendered mixed results. What we liked were the albondigas soup and chili verde. What failed totally were the tamales, which had crusty and tough masa and flavorless pork and sauce. They should never have left the kitchen. It is likely they are not made in-house. Also my wife did not care for her refried beans. Enchiladas, meat... More

We have eaten here a number of times and had consistently very good food and drinks. The service has also been pleasant and timely so I am puzzled by some of the recent negative reviews. The homemade salsas are delicious and so are the margaritas. Our favorite dishes are the carnitas and the chili relleno smothered in chili verde. The... More

This used to be a good restaurant. But it has been going downhill for years. I think people just est there out of habit. There is much better available all over town, and particularly at El Pescador!

I've been eating the Guacamole Toppers at the Familia Diaz since the 1970's. My wife samples many other dishes. It just doesn't get any better when it comes to Mexican Food. The service is always good, the staff friendly with plenty of parking.

Have been to this restaurant in the past but our last experience did turn us off to coming here for a while. Came in as a family and after ordering it seemed to take quite a while to get our food. The waitress didn't bring our drinks very quickly and when we mentioned we didn't have any silverware, she went... More

Familia Diaz service is a nightmare!!!!! Me and wife usually split a margarita when we eat Mexican and it was happy hour at familia Diaz so we ordered one. I ordered the drink and confirmed with the waitress that it was 50 percent off and she said yes. When the bill arrived I noticed that they charged me 18.00 dollars... More

Heard good things about this place. Went there on Mother's day. My wife had "Siete Mares" soup. Instead of seven seafood items, it had seven vegetables. In no way did it tasted like a seven seas soup. I had "Camarones a la plancha". The Shrimps had no taste, the beans and rice were totally dry. We both started out with... More

I've eaten there about 3 times over the years in Santa Paula and it only gets worse. This is surprising for a Mexican restaurant in a mainly Hispanic town. I've tried enough of the offerings with different groups of people and have been so sorry I did. I love good Mexican food but unfortunately this food bears no resemblance to... More

We were very impressed with the service here. The salsas were very good - I probably ate a whole bowl myself! I had the carne asada plate and my wife had a taco salad - pretty standard Mexican fare but good food. Just on food I would give this place 4 stars but the staff was so great and accomodating... This is a must have for those who love tamales, margaritas & most other Mexican food! The unique flavors of all items is worth coming back for as we have for years & look forward to our next visit!
