To my mind it was the best breakfast I have tried in California. I could not say it was a gourmet. But it was a delicious food especially in combination with a family atmosphere just like in the home kitchen.

In addition to Amelia's made-to-order sandwiches, salads, homemade soups, and fresh bakery items, unique breakfast choices are available--eggs espresso (pillows of steamed eggs resting on grilled ciabatta, with melted cheese and topped with fresh vine-ripened tomato, basil, and grilled zucchini--arranged in the shape of a flower), savories (baked puff pastry that may include savory combinations of artichokes, Italian sausage, roasted... Had a breakfast meeting at Amelia's and have to admit the food was good and so was the cafe, but is this place really special? I did not notice anything outstanding, maybe except the fact, that its a computer/ipad/wifi free zone, what might be an interesting point of differentiation for some. There is plenty good breakfast places in Santa Monica/Venice... More

Amelia's sits quietly on a busy Santa Monica street, tucked in between a motel and another business but the positive atmosphere and delicious food make this a must visit while in Santa Monica. It's family owned by Italian Americans who understand how important great food is for a successful family trip. We'll be back
