We had a traditional English breakfast here and the food was good, service good. Being American we ordered coffee, and should have ordered tea. Coffee not so great.
The Brits will understand the reference to Betty's - one of the best known tea rooms in England. Tudor House was just as good with good sandwiches, scones and cakes. A nice selection of teas as well. The attached shop a haven for anybody with Brit food withdrawal symptoms - where else would you find PG Tips in the States?
quiet place for english tea great scones nice tea selection and fabulous bakery/market
We found many great choices on the menu. Our food was delicious and the service was polite and respectful. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, easy to locate and in a good neighborhood. I will highly recommend this to others and I plan to return when I am in the area. We especially enjoyed the attached British store.
This traditional English tearoom in Santa Monica is the oldest British establishment in that lovely seaside town. I have been eating there for over 30 years and the friendliness of the staff (all of whom have been there as long!), the quality of the food and tea, and the beautifully remodeled tearoom and store has never diminished. Chris and Karen,... More
The service is brilliant! The lady is very friendly and always helpful. Well, Brits are always more polite and well-mannered compared to Californians :) The price is very reasonable (1 teapot for only $2.75). Great variety of tea (black, green, earl grey, etc etc). The scones are superb (served warm, with raspberry and devonshire cream), along with other authentic British... More
I'm a brit who has been living in the US now for 7 years. I was very chuffed to discover this place, since it is so difficult to find fresh and authentic english food. We ate at the tearoom and had a fantastic pot of Assam tea with our pies and chips. The pies were spot on, just like something... More
I love everything about this place. I've been going to the Tudor House for over a decade. The food is delicious: I usually get the Afternoon Tea (comes with choice of sandwich, salad, scones, sausage rolls, and dessert). Everything is wonderful, especially the sausage rolls. I have tried sausage rolls at many other places, ugh, disgusting. At Tudor, they are... More
This was beyond a horrible experience. My husband is British, so we are always on the lookout for a British restaurant. I had purchased several pastries there on many occasions, as they have a bakery attached to the restaurant. My husband had a complaint once about the freshness of the custard tart but overall, he was just pleased to find... More
