The waiter was so rude, not even a smile. The food was late and when we asked him where was the food he was like "I will bring it when it's done" . As soon as the food came, there was half a meal in the plate and the food tasted old and cold ans they didn't do anything about... read more

We were in Santa Monica and enjoying the shopping in third street. We were looking for a place to have dinner when we came across Johnnies. We decided to have dinner there. We picked a table outside the restaurant where we could see all the activity going on in third street. It was great! We had shrimp scampi pasta done... More

I visited the same location some years ago when it was called Mario's . The restaurant changed names (I am not sure if they are under new ownership) The food was pretty good and the prices are affordable for a restaurant right on the promenade. Services was quick. Now let's talk about the dirt...omg! A restaurant might be outdated and... More

Wandering down 3rd Street in Santa Monica for somewhere to eat and stumbled across this place as it doesn’t have a huge frontage or great curb appeal. OK the décor inside is a little tired but the food well makes up for it. The pizzas were great and the salad’s tasty and huge.

Inside was tatty and grubby. Toilets were v average. Service was indifferent. The pasta was mediocre. Wish we had done some research rather than take pot luck, wish we had gone to McDonald's!

If you like NY style pizza, Johnnie's is where you want to go. Don't get confused by the spelling of the name, I had to look twice but the spelling on my receipt and the spelling shown in the picture is Johnnie's. We are from the East and this pizza reminded me of the pizzas we have back home. It... More

Normally we don't eat at chain restaurants, but one kid was dying for pizza so we figured at least we could get some other dishes here, as well. Our waiter pretty much ignored us during and after our dinner. When we were almost done he stopped by for the first time to ask how everything was. When I couldn't find... More

During our recent stay in Santa Monica, we were after some nice italian food. We came across Johnnie's and were not disappointed. In fact, it was so good, we returned again before our departure. They have an extensive menu of pizza and pasta but you can also get a schnitzel, soup and salads. The lasagne was very nice and a... More

4 of us ate here last week. I ordered a pasta dish, my husband had chicken wings (he did enjoy them) and the other couple split a pizza. They gave us pizza knots and marinara sauce for free and they were stale and the sauce tasteless. My pasta dish was boring and I think it is really hard to make... More

I recently had lunch here on a visit to Santa Monica. They served me the best Italian steak and cheese sandwich I have EVER anywhere except the east coast. Service was excellent, price was reasonable and I recommend it without hesitation.

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
