The welcome was so welcoming by Michael, apparently the long-time owner of Chez Jay, that I felt compelled to take the time to write a review. This is obviously a place for locals. It has a "neighborhood bar" type vibe, and if you are not comfortable being an "outsider", then you shouldn't go there. Heard great things about Chez Jay. Recently moved to Santa Monica and went by to try it out. We sat at the bar and received the worst service. The bar tender kept talking to her usual customers and after we tried to get her attention the first time, it was on. We had to get her attention every time after... more
