Good Quality but older crowd

Nice food targeting an older crowd. At least they have a full bar! some of the food could have been delivered a bit hotter (my own pet peeve).

Why I continue to go back to The Bistro on Santa Monica Blvd. I do not know! I work within a block, so the choice is very limited. I am always hopeful that it will improve. Yesterday at lunch time I had the Club Sandwich thinking they cannot go too far wrong with that item. The fries were fresh and... More

We have been going The Bistro for a family dinner every year when we come to town for more than 10 years. The food is consistent, original, always well prepared and reasonably priced. The wait staff is pleasant and attentive and it is nice to see the owner always present and going around to welcome guests. Even when every table is... More

"Found" the Bistro as it was within walking distance of our hotel. No other info besides it " looked interesting" from the street. Went in early ( before 6 pm) , was welcomed by the bar man who doubled as our server. Menus is upscale Italian. Had sea bass as one entree and chicken piccata as the other. No spaghetti... More

We had a nice table with white tablecloths in a scenic italian style place. We started with a tasty caesar salad and red wine, and then ordered the osso buco and linguini and clams. Both were delicious. The chocolate souffle was very good but a little small. Our server was prompt and friendly.

The location is very good and the food is fantastic! Some restaurants claim to be Italian but if the pasta is not done "al dente" certainly your food will not be good. Anyone looking to have a good meal can stop by Bistro of Santa Monica and will not be dissatisfied. Their bread and the oil with sundried tomatoes and... More

We stumbled on this restaurant while driving on Santa Monica Bl. It's a beautiful place. The food was very good. I had a cream of lentil soup that was the best I think I've ever had. My dining partner had seafood risotto, and he said it was delicious. They have a nice, if limited, wine list. A pianist plays live... More

We were staying at the Best Western Gateway in Santa Monica and asked the people at the desk where we might find a good restaurant. The both suggested the Bistro which is located three blocks away at 2301 Santa Monica Boulevard. We went in on a Wednesday evening when it wasn't very busy and were cordially greeted by the maitre... Looks like a French restaurant, but is more Italian. Good choice of food, and reasonably priced. Service very good. Piano player is good, although the time we were there, the restaurant was quite empty, and tended to be a bit loud.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
