Delightful dining

I met a colleague for lunch. We were both pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of food, as well as the reasonable prices.

In an area where so many nice restaurants are so highly priced it is nice to find a restaurant that has the great food without the outlandish price tab. The seared ahi was excellent, as was the salmon, and other plates our table had ordered. The service was also very good. Will definitely be going back! Well worth the visit.

A friend suggested having dinner at this pot in Santa Monica- why not, something new is interesting. The ambience of the place is lovely and with a piano player there our dining experience was heightened. We did sit in the back of the restaurant so conversation would be fluid and we could listen to one another. Four diners and 4... More

Friend had her 70th birthday party there. I had never been although heard it was terrific. Full bar, nice size place, parking in back. The food was very good. I had salmon, moist and tasty. The rest of the guests ate up a storm, generous portions, appetizers, salads, bread and entress. The dessert was a chocolate mousse and the waiters... More

I eat here for lunch on a regular basis. It's a great place to meet friends during the week, white tablecloths and an atmosphere where you can actually hear the conversation going round. No loud music or ambient noise to compete with pleasant conversation and good food. My favorites here are lemon sole outcast and a veal meatball linguini with... More

Why I continue to go back to The Bistro on Santa Monica Blvd. I do not know! I work within a block, so the choice is very limited. I am always hopeful that it will improve. Yesterday at lunch time I had the Club Sandwich thinking they cannot go too far wrong with that item. The fries were fresh and... More

We have been going The Bistro for a family dinner every year when we come to town for more than 10 years. The food is consistent, original, always well prepared and reasonably priced. The wait staff is pleasant and attentive and it is nice to see the owner always present and going around to welcome guests. Even when every table is... More

Nice food targeting an older crowd. At least they have a full bar! some of the food could have been delivered a bit hotter (my own pet peeve).

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
