Great place to stop by for coffees and music. Very relaxed and comfortable. Certainly casual and a relaxed crowd. Tip well, keep the hard-working staff rewarded for their nice vibe.

UnUrban Café is a Santa Monica must! Many people think of SaMo in terms of 3rd Street Promenade, the Pier, Main Street, and Montana Avenue, but there is so much more to this fabulous city! The flip side of all that upscale consumer-friendly business is absolutely UnUrban: a masterpiece of kitsch and coffee, proudly jutting out on the corner of... More

When I dine in I like real coffee in real cups. If I choose to go to Starbucks I accept that I will get paper cups. The coffee at Un- Urban was too weak & with a polystyrene after taste. That place needs a big overhaul. Give it a miss ..

Great coffee, hip building (a bit run down, but I think that is part of the charm), interesting neighborhood. Seems to have an active (mostly female) community that meets there regularly (in a back room). Easy walk from Travelodge. Neat (but inconspicuous) French pastry shop nearby.

I always make this the first place I go when visiting Santa Monica from Montana, and lo and behold, the firend serving me had parents living not 2 miles from me! Wow great cup of coffee and a new friend, does life get much better?

A local landmark that is an acquired taste, little more casual than I need first thing in the morning.

I was in Santa Monica on a solo trip over June/July 2011 and was staying in the Travelodge just across the road and this place was a godsend! Good priced coffee, free wi-fi and always something "interesting" going on of an afternoon/evening! OK let's answer some of the critics. Yes, the place looks ramshackle; if you don't like that look... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
