This restaurant is in our neighborhood and I'm a little torn about writing it up. You see, I'm afraid you will get our seats. It is smaller space as other have pointed out and I too suggest you get here early. They are only open for dinner and do not take reservations. Super good sushi! We crave the food here.... More

Very tasty sushi. Good sized cuts of fish. One of the best sushi joints I have been to, though the menu does not have the vast selection of some other restaurants. Service was good. The place is very popular and space for waiting is limited so suggest you go early.

We live most of the year in New Zealand and have limited access to great sushi, so when we hit Southern Cal., we can't wait to try new sushi restaurants. Based on a friends recommendation, we went to Sushi King and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Fortunately we were able to find an open table, because the restaurant is... More

A friend of mine took me to this place saying that Sushi King has been his favorite for more than 20 years. The name of the restaurant sounded fishy to a Japanese but the quality was..... outstanding! (Possible discomfort) Not much except: 1) you have to find a parking space along Wilshire Blvd which can be a nightmare in LA!... More

Ate here on a Saturday evening with my teenage daughter on a recent visit to Santa Monica. We were not disappointed! Place was full, so we sat at the sushi bar and got to watch the chefs at work. Everything was really good and fresh, but the rainbow roll and softshell crab rolls were the stars! We would definitely come... More

I have been craving sushi for weeks and am so glad I picked this place to satisfy my craving. The sushi here is great, fresh fish no fuss. Its authentic, we sat at the bar and the sushi chef placed the sushi on our plates as he made then. The menu is simple, a handfull of rolls and a bunch... More

Upon a friend's recommendation, this was our choice for an early dinner after a UCLA graduation ceremony. We were only disappointed that the spider rolls (soft shell crab), and the "Purple Island" were not available. One of our favorites was the calamari from the starters' menu. We had the green tea tempura dessert, which we all agreed had a little... More

I almost don't want to write this review but here it is. I'm native to the area and this is my favorite place to eat sushi. It's not fancy, trendy or flashy. It's no frills, quality, authentic sushi at a great price. It's also very small with limited hours, no reservations. If you want really good food, just come here,... More

It is a small restaurant, we waited around 15 mins to be seated. Ordered a combo of sushi and teriyaki/tempura. Fresh fish, yellow tail sashimi was amazing.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
