3 couples for Saturday late lunch

We came here with a reservation we made on the same day. Got a great seat in the conservatory with nice sun- great lighting for pictures. Food was good, I had the fish and chips but the shrimp tacos that someone else had was really good. Great sea food.

Gourmet excellent food, intimate fun softly lit atmosphere, excellent service. Crab cakes are the best in US. Gourmet fish and chips creates a whole new meaning to the term. Wide selection of types of food. Prices are high end but fair. Portions are generous, high end vintage wine prices a real value as owner bought much early. Ocean side Patio... More

In spite of its comfortable ambiance, this restaurant failed to deliver at a quality level commensurate with its pricing. All three meals were a disappointment--two Kobe beef dinners that tasted old and we're both overlooked. The third meal was lobster and linguine and it consisted of a large shell (for show) with only a fraction of the original lobster used... More

High profile location with weak food and in attentive service. All style, no substance, high prices and every effort made to jack the bill. I expected to pay for the experience and convenience, but I was not happy to feel played.

An unexpected invite took 6 of us to The Ivy for dinner. From the moment we walked in the resturant we received the most attentive service and as we sat at the table our complimentary champagne arrived and set the scene for the rest of the evening. The place was buzzing. We loved the chilled sophisticated decor , dim lighting... More

Enjoyed the food and was delighted by our attentive server. We were a party of 8 with the usual vegetarian lot and everyone found something they were really looking forward to trying. Great cocktails too. Only drawback was the very loud acoustics.difficult to hear people at the table.

I had extremely high expectations for The Ivy, none of which were met. Here are some things that I did not like about my visit: 1) The wait staff looked bored and never went out of their way to be kind at all. Two waiters were talking about video games loudly right behind our table. 2) Breakfast prices are ridiculous... More

Awful food, high prices, cheap decor, awful service and the fact that the waiter cleverly tricked us into buying more expensive stuff than want we intended to buy. Simply put, avoid this place at any cost.

Stopped here for a nightcap and bite to eat at the bar. Gorgeous interior; very upscale. Excellent bar with everything you could want. Delicious thin-crust pizza. Pretty expensive.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
