High standards but expensive

As you would expect the service here is excellent. The food was really good, well executed and well presented. On vacation in SoCal and the restaurant was recommended by locals. The food was very good but expensive. I would not return.

I like the Ivy and I suppose part of the charm is how snobby the wait staff can be. We were a party of two on a slow morning (only 3 tables occupied in the entire restaurant). We asked to sit at a table for four so we could spread out some materials we had to go over. The maitre... More

Let me start by saying, I don't mind spending $$$ on good food but really? The price quality ratio is off for this restaurant. We ate there for lunch and I ordered an appetizer and a garden salad and my husband ordered a sandwich and fries.......crazy expensive. We have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the country and... More

Nice sea food place right in the heart of Santa Monica. Great view and good atmosphere. This place presents an Italian style food but can't say I was that impressed with its variety and freshness of dishes. Overall dishes were small giving the prices they charge. Lobster was good. Tuna tarter and sea bass were ok. Not more than that.... More

Food was good but by US (and especially LA) standards not amazing. Yes the view is worth $100 on the bill but I;m not a massive fan of the dim light or dining in a conservatory. Staff very charismatic and attentive. you will get a great meal just not the meal of a lifetime you might expect.

Had heard so much about Ivy but had a major disappointment when dining there. VERY LOUD...could hardly hear the person next to me. Though the portions were generous, the prices were very hefty. Our fish platter was all deep fried...not what I would expect. Service was good...place was packed...but I was not impressed.

Visited the Santa Monica Pier and while walking around came across this restaurant. Staff was spectacular and the food even better. Had seafood and salads, all exceptional. The mojito's were the best of our trip.

At the end of a day of exploring Santa Monica, we chose Ivy to have dinner probably because it was right on Ocean Blvd. Upscale with impeccable service and good food. We shared the oysters and then the fish and chips which included calamari, shrimps, scallops and onion rings with the fish. We finished with two fabulous desserts. It is... More

First visit to Santa Monica and we chose this restaurant because of its location and because we wanted to eat seafood. Like some other reviewers I thought that it was linked to The Ivy in London, but some googling showed otherwise. We were greeted with a complimentary glass of sparkling white wine which was a nice gesture. Our table was... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
