Tasty Caribbean Fare

We were in Santa Monica for a few days and within walking distance of Cha Cha Chicken from our hotel. In my opinion, this was a Food Network FAIL. The coconut fried chicken was just fried chicken. I couldnt taste the coconut and I wasnt impressed with the sides either. Now, if you are going with friends and BYOB, its a neat place to go. Born in southwest Ohio, we had restaurants that made some really good fried chicken, this... More

We liked Cha Cha so much when we ate dinner, we tried it for brunch also. The jerk chicken was amazing as was the gumbo and jerk enchiladas. The plantains and black beans with rice were great sides. For brunch we had eggs smoothered in jerk sauce. A little pricey but delicious!!

We ate lunch here. The Jerk was nothing like we have had in Jamaica, and the rest was just so so. Not particularly cheap considering the quality of the food, and the restaurant itself.

My wife and I always come here when we are in Santa Monica. I have become addicted to the spinach quesadilla and my wife had the enchiladas, which were amazing. Try the hot salsa and stay for the flan.

This place is on the casual side with a funky beach vibe. This is the kind of place where you order then sit. Most people are pretty good about not holding onto seats before they have ordered, so finding a seat when it's busy is generally not very hard. This is a local spot for me and I keep going... More

On Friday while heading home my son and I made a stop at our favorite Peruvian restaurant but the waiting was over 1 hr. Mario's Peruvian is a landmark family own restaurant off Melrose and Rossmore that makes the best "Lomo Saltado" Peruvian sirloin steak and fries with purple onion halves, tomatoes, and their special spices. The next best more... More

There were non service dogs inside. It was busy, we expected it to be good, but it was only OK. The wait was excessive. There was a line instead of being seated and people butted in without blinking an eye.

We walked by this place by accident as it was right near our hotel. The food is delicious! I highly recommend the coconut fried chicken with a slaw side. Delicious. Lines out the door - it's a god sign.

Not sure what they were trying to proffer but the jerk was totally flat by my discerning and admittedly stringent standard - latino/california version ended up subpar to even a Chicken Kitchen order but seemingly the locals were all gung-ho and willing to line up down the block, quaint place and good vibe but didn't go back nor would hurry... Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
