Best Caribbean Food in Santa Monica

While the dark and outdated decor don't do justice to this homely eating venue, the food and prices are just AMAZING. Everything on the menu looked delicious. No liquor served, but BYOB. One block off the beach and just up from Shutters hotel, we found this great spot for spiced chicken and some quality sides. Nothing fancy but a great "island" vibe to compliment the jerk chicken. Most of the tables are outside with at least partial sun, so not the best to cool off on a very hot day.

Skip the frills and score big. I CRAVE this place! The parking is crazy and the lines can get long, but I promise, it's worth every second. They have great specials and the cantaloupe water can't be topped. When it comes to what to order, you really can't go wrong. I always get the coconut chicken with plantains and sweet... More

The jerk chicken enchilada with fried plantains and dirty rice are out of this world. I've eaten at both locations many times, but the parking in Santa Monica is a nightmare, and the comfortable sit-down restaurant in Northridge makes for a much more pleasant dining experience. Also the Northridge location gives you delicious chips and warm bean dip. Don't let... More

We had a wonderful meal at Cha Cha's. We ate on the patio which had fun decorations. Coconut chicken was good. Husband liked the hot chicken. I believe son had fish. We all enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and talking to a relative of the owner.

In my opinion, this was a Food Network FAIL. The coconut fried chicken was just fried chicken. I couldnt taste the coconut and I wasnt impressed with the sides either. Now, if you are going with friends and BYOB, its a neat place to go. Born in southwest Ohio, we had restaurants that made some really good fried chicken, this... More

We were in Santa Monica for a few days and within walking distance of Cha Cha Chicken from our hotel. When we arrived there were about 8-10 people in line waiting to order and all the tables were taken. The line went quickly and by the time we ordered we easily found a table for our family of five. All... More

We liked Cha Cha so much when we ate dinner, we tried it for brunch also. The jerk chicken was amazing as was the gumbo and jerk enchiladas. The plantains and black beans with rice were great sides. For brunch we had eggs smoothered in jerk sauce. A little pricey but delicious!!

We ate lunch here. The Jerk was nothing like we have had in Jamaica, and the rest was just so so. Not particularly cheap considering the quality of the food, and the restaurant itself.

My wife and I always come here when we are in Santa Monica. I have become addicted to the spinach quesadilla and my wife had the enchiladas, which were amazing. Try the hot salsa and stay for the flan.

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
