Carribean style outdoor eatery

We came in on a Monday at about 2 pm and there was no line so we were lucky to miss the crows everyone mentions in their reviews. We ordered about 5 entrees from the menu and even also had their drink of the day which was tasty and unique. We sat down at a nice long table covered from... read more

Not sure what they were trying to proffer but the jerk was totally flat by my discerning and admittedly stringent standard - latino/california version ended up subpar to even a Chicken Kitchen order but seemingly the locals were all gung-ho and willing to line up down the block, quaint place and good vibe but didn't go back nor would hurry... We ate there twice in our 6 days in Santa Monica. Had a large group of 9 or 10 both times and the food and atmosphere was enjoyed by everyone. It was a BYO booze place and our grown kids were fine with that.

I really enjoy this place for a healthy lunch or dinner. They have really fresh ingredients, a great selection of dishes, and friendly staff. I almost always gets Arts Unfried Chicken. I love the Brussels sprouts and butternut squash that comes with it. I have also had their chicken avocado sandwich which is great and their bbq flatbread. To be... More

Restaurant was on a street corner on Pico a block above the beach. You stand in line to order and then the food is brought to your table. Ingenious use of space on what appears to be a public sidewalk. The menu is extensive with good explanations of what you are getting if you are not familiar with this style... More

All good here. Good vibes and good food. Low key ambiance and popular with the locals. The jerk chicken is what it's all about.

You can tell by the line that this is a favorite place for many. Plan to stand in line, especially on the weekend. There is limited seating inside and a small patio that is very enjoyable. It's BYOB and they will provide an opener and cups. The enchiladas and plantains are my favorite. The location is close to the Santa... More

We happened to stumble on this restaurant. We ordered the coconut fried chicken and the Jamaican jerk wings. Each plate came with a side of black beans and rice and plaintains. They taste was very good and food tasted fresh.

Cha Cha Chicken is one of my all time favorite lunch spots. We usually opt for take-out when staying in Santa Monica. If you prefer dining there they do offer seating. Years ago it was mostly a locals type cafe.... but now with the influx of tourists in Santa Monica it draws visitors as well as locals. They offer a... More

I first heard of Cha Cha Chicken a few years ago, when I stumbled on a Food Network show that named the Top 10 restaurants for Fried Chicken in the US, and Cha Cha Chicken's coconut fried chicken sounded delicious! Fast forward to a few weekends ago, when visiting SoCal, and our plans called for an afternoon in Santa Monica.... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
