Tasty Mexican Fare

Border Grill had very tasty Mexican fare. We enjoyed their margaritas, fish tacos, guacamole, and shrimp tostadas. The staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was delicious!

This is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants for its combination of ambiance, creative and non-typical dishes and the friendly service. We've been here many times over many years and whether it's with the kids or with friends it's always a satisfying meal and time. More often than not we order a bunch of little plates or appetizers to share... More

This restaurant is great for all ages, and definitely for people who like excellent modern Mexican food and service. I wish I lived in the region so I could dine here regularly. Fun, lively atmosphere for dining so this is definitely not a chain restaurant (although there's a few other locations in region). The staff is courteous and friendly and... More

We've been here many times before and we know the food is dependably interesting, authentic and tasty. On this visit we found the food still to be of very high quality. We enjoyed the food itself very much. However, I must say that the service was not as good as the food. The food took ages to appear, and the... More

After a fun day in the beach this was the perfect end to a beautiful day. Service was friendly, attentive, and kindly accommodating when one child in our party did not like her original order. (It was whisked away and another provided in its place without fuss or complaint.) The Cadillac Margarita is fantastic. We particularly enjoyed the fish tacos,... More

Surprised by all the other good reviews of this place. Drinks were bland, while the baja ceviche was just ok (bit too sour), while the tamales were fine, but the mains was the short rib enchiladas was just absolutely drowned in this thick dark sweet sauce that made the dish practically inedible, while the yucatan pork was overcooked and dry.... I first came to Border Grill when they first opened and thought their food was innovative and delicious. Over 10 years later I think it is overpriced and not very good... with the exception of the Peruvian ceviche. I don't think it's worth the prices they charge and the restaurant is so noisy (and always has been), it's hard to... More

The spacious restaurant was quite empty when we walked in on an early Friday evening, but the dim lighting made it appear even more cavernous and, initially, a little intimidating. However, the neat, colorful artwork on the walls and ceilings added to the fun vibe. It also helped that every single staff member with whom we interacted appeared delighted to... More

We came for dinner on a Sunday not realizing the Happy Hour menu was good all evening. Our waiter recommended we share the Yucatan Pork, which was excellent, and we rounded the meal out with ceviche shots (loved the Peruvian) and grilled fish tacos.

I made a reservation for 12 of us to have brunch last weekend and it was good! The food was delicious and our server was so kind to voluntarily split our checks, which was so very appreciated. The only thing that was a bit off was that some of our group wanted the bottomless brunch and some didn't. They initially... More

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
