Was at the Border Grill for a dinner service on a Saturday evening. It was full and we had a wating time of around 20 min. The pace is very lively and loud. Do not expect to have a quiet conversation as the place buzzes with energy and some great Mexican vibe. Service was attentive at best. Food was very... More

This place has adequate Mexican fare, although I have had better. The happy hour tacos and margaritas were tasty and decently priced, but be aware that the happy hour menu is only served in the bar. Service was average and the server tried to bring us appetizers that we didn't order and looked confused when we didn't accept them. The... More

We enjoyed our early Friday dinner at Border Grill. Had excellent service from Eduardo. Loved the food. Only complaint was that the pomegranate margarita seemed a little weak!

For 'simple' Mexican food the Border grill seems to be a bit over the top in terms of what it's trying to achieve, sadly this the place lacked any real atmosphere (but that might have been because it was a Monday night) but more importantly the food lacked any taste. Perhaps the chef is one of the new breed that... More

This meal started badly as although we had pre-booked we were shown to a table right at the back which did not have enough place settings & was messy. Then the (friendly) waiter bought the wrong wine despite confirming that we wanted white wine he bought red! Drinks took ages to come too but menu looked good so took the... More

Went here with friends for a total of five people, three adults and two children. Made the reservation ahead of time and arrived a few minutes before my friends so had a seat at the bar. Room was a third full with the standard after work crowd well into their happy hour. This brings me to the main not so... More

My kids took me there for Father's day in mid-afternoon. The place was about one third full. The salsa selection (three types) was very good - but several of the chips were insufficiently cooked (they were instead soft and rubbery when in the mouth). That first impression marred an otherwise pleasant experience. The meals were well prepared and the atmosphere... More

We had dinner here recently, and it was delicious. They have Pisco sours on the bar menu, which are not very common outside of South America, and they were just as good as the sours we had in Peru. All four of our entrees, as well as our appetizers were full of flavor and delicious. Service was wonderful, and our... More

I visited this restaurant by myself and was asked if I'd mind sitting at the bar area because I was on my own, and I said would like a normal table, as this has frequently happened to me when dining alone. I was directed to a table and the service was good. I finished my starter and straight away my... More

Border Grill. The 2 hot tamales. Susan and Mary Sue have been cooking healthy, flavorsome Mexican food from this Downtown SM location for last 20 years. The food is still inventive, tasty and delicious. I'm a big fan of the tostada salad and the sweet corn tamales. Slow roasted pork is also delicious. They source ingredients from the Santa Monica...
