Capo was a great dining experience that provided all the elements of fine dining that I consider valuable. It is a smaller space with the bar contained in the single dining room. There is also an open view of the kitchen. Making this a cozy and comfortable setting that has a nice vibe. Far from pretentious. The food, although not... More

My husband and I took a quick weekend trip to Santa Monica, we were looking for a fine dining experience but with some character. We live in Las Vegas, and I work in the hospitality industry so we are around amazing restaurants all the time. So when we go on vacation we like to try places that offer something beyond... More

A friend hosted a dinner for eight here last Saturday night. While the waiters barely had enough room to move, everything went perfectly. A charming room with quirky artwork, we were all in the mood to celebrate. Starting with the tasty bread basket including crackers, cheesy, crispy bread sticks and luscious olive bread, a select Pinot Noir and a buttery... More

Visited this place for dinner and it was really interesting. Dan Ackroyd was eating at a nearby table and there were other people obviously from the business as there was a lot of back slapping going on between tables. It was an excellent place for people watching, the sort of restaurant at which you'd imagine big time movie producers putting... More

Not much else to say. Went for a business dinner.. Great atmosphere. AND.. the best piece of Veal I've ever had in my life. Our server was mediocre and had to be covered by other people.. unfortunate. But did not detract from it being the best veal I've ever had in my life.

If you know what a "slow fodd" means and love dimmed light, this cozy and gourmand place is right for you. Reservations are mandatory and still there may be a time waiting when you come in. Don't waste it if so, get a drink at the bar. For a wine connoisseur while thumbing though the "wine list" which is not... More

We had a lovely romantic dinner and service was flawless in all respects. Our entree--we split it-- was a wonderful seafood and pasta dish that was the special of the night. Our cocktails were perfectly prepared. We did not have an extravagant evening, as we've had a few times in the past, but the service was equally impressive on this... More

You could easily walk past this gem, it is very understated on the, outside. Inside is a smallish finish area with unusual and sometimes quirky art works with a well designed bar area stocked high with different wines plus fire with wood fired oven. Sophisticated yet cosy. Service was impeccable on both our visits. Wine list is unbelievably long with outstanding... More

Capo was on my list as a "fine dining" experience". We arrived for a 6:15 reservation and were promptly seated. My first observation was the openness of the floor plan and the eclectic yet well curated art. Our service was professional/consistent throughout the evening. Details count: as in an amazing bread basket full of homemade specialties. Their thin, crispy rosemary... More

We've had several marvelous dinners here and decided to take a very important client who was visiting with his wife. We were warmly greeted and told there was a short wait. The host asked if we wanted to sit near the fire, as the bar was full. I also noticed every table was booked--obviously a busy night. We fully understood... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
