All you'd want in an Italian restaurant!

We strolled in off the street on Monday night after having decided apon Italian and checking on yelp to see that this was the place to go in town. Main Street was a fair walk from the main drag of things but worth the effort plus we were starving when we arrived. A fairly snooty man at the door... read more

This place was packed on a Tuesday which says it all really. Good food & service with excellent ambience. Lovely pizza and pasta. One downside is that for kids it's half sizes on pasta (not pizza) only.

We have enjoyed this restaurant on several occasions when visiting Santa Monica. The service has always been friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The food has been very good to excellent on each visit. On our last visit I ordered the Tri-Colori salad and the Branzini. The salad was excellent and the Branzini perfectly broiled. My husband had the Pesce Bianco. He... More

We were here for a family gathering, decided to dine here on the recommendation of a local. Extensive wine list, and according to my cousins, had very fair prices for the wine.we all chose a pasta dish, but I feel the Bologenese was the best I have had , since we dined in Florence, Italy.would highly recommend this restaurant.

This lively restaurant on Main St in Santa Monica is a GEM. From the deliciously warm bread served with olive oil and crushed garlic to generous appetizers, we almost didn't have room for our entrees!! The dinner portions are a very generous size and were oh so delicious! No one in our party of 7 had anything but rave reviews!... More

The hostess was great getting our family party of seven in on a busy night on Main Street. With a varied menu plus a good Price Fix menu we were very pleased on all fronts.

My two daughters wanted pasta for dinner, we searched online and decided to go to this restaurant. no regrets! The ambience is good, albeit a bit dark, they have a good selection of wines and beers. Now, we live in Italy and are used to Italian food the Italian way. My wife had pizza, it was good. I had spaghetti... More

La Vecchia was our last dinner in Santa Monica. It was busy but that didn't impede the quality of service. Appetizers: Tuna carpaccio- super thin with a nicely dressed salad Fried Zucchini blossoms-very good Entrees: Pasta with lamb ragu fantastic Dessert- creme brûlée-good La Vecchia was a nice ending to our culinary experiences in the area.

Not a bad word to say - get here early for the Happy Hour bargains. A martini and a delicious cold seafood salad, both for $7. The veal limone was also very very good. Big plates of tasty looking pasta and pizzas were coming out of the busy kitchen - the place has a friendly, buzzy atmosphere

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
