Always a pleasant meal in this straightforward neighborhood French restaurant. An essentially never-changing list of relatively undemanding but good French bistro dishes. Wine choices limited but good. Service friendly although zero attempt to learn the names of pretty regular customers. Noise level very comfortable.

Stumbled across this little place, don't blink or you'll miss it. Family owned and run, all very welcoming and delightfully French. Very typical French bistro menu complete with chalk board menus, French linens and tight little tables. Very enjoyable and the food is fresh, all made on site the day of serving and delisious! Between the rosé from Rousillion (Provence)... More

I have been there several times and would describe the meals as good to very good, but not great. The service is generally excellent. The specials of the day are written on blackboards placed on each table, which is sort of French restaurant style, and the server will generally recite some other specials as well. Compared to restaurants in France,... More

This is a little cafe, simple straight forward and honest. As a chef, well that is all I want. I stopped in by myself at 5pm. They opened at 5:30pm and were very gracious, inviting me in. A glass of wine and country pate just what I needed. The small dining room was clean and orderly (check!), i hinted at... More

Four of us went to Le Petit Café on July 9, 2013. First and foremost, I have no idea as the reason why this restaurant stands out in anyone's mind. We had just returned from our most recent trip to France...there is no way that this restaurant would compare to anything in France. Each couple began with a "crab appetizer"... More

This charming, friendly French-style local eatery in Santa Monica has been a real gem for the past twenty years and still holds forth with great food and cheerful staff. We stopped by again last weekend and enjoyed their mussels – fresh and tasty in a superb broth, the Cesar salad (with whole anchovies, as requested), mushroom salad and split the... More

Had lunch recently at this French owned, managed and staffed bistro. As usual, a comprehensive list of specials on the blackboard, neatly divided into meat and fish selections. I had the sand dabs as did my companion and we both pronounced them to be excellent. Hearty portions by L.A. standards. Only mild negative is that parking is sometimes problematic thanks... More

The staff is very attentive. Speak a few words of French to them - they are native speakers. The food is superb - try the Sandabs! Also the Onion Soup is très bien! I've been there half a dozen times and never been disappointed. Parking can be a challenge, though.

This was the best meal we had on a recent 4 day visit to LA. Far better than the high tech foodie restaurants in the neighborhood. Charming atmosphere, attentive service and wonderful country French food. The French Onion soup is a hit with a generous topping of good gruyere cheese. Nice selection of reasonably priced wines.
