A Bit of France in Santa Monica

This small bistro is adorable with chalk board menus at each table. The service was good and our French speaking waiter added to the charm of being at this...French eatery. Nice wine list...all French wines. Warm bread and butter brought to table. The sandabs were super tasty...with lots of butter... read more

I can't believe I didn't know about Le Petit Cafe before...it's been here for 20 years....a small unassuming little French bistro in Santa Monica.....absolutely delicious food....great filet mignon, the best fish dish I've ever eaten ( I don't like to order fish in restaurants usually)....great dessert, very very warm and friendly staff.... It is small....so reservations are a must. Good... More

Cute, little, low key place in Santa Monica- perfect for a (very) casual business lunch. As much as I wanted the burger, I opted for something a wee touch smaller: a slice of their fab quiche Lorraine coupled with a small spinach salad... Overall, good service and good food. (Their shallot vinaigrette was excellent!)

Their food is mediocre. And sadly they're incredibly overpriced for what you're eating. No one should pay 7$ for a simple butter crepe.

Just discovered this little place. Nice. It's been in Santa Monica for a long time, so I must be the last one to find it. Menu is large enough. Wine list small, but good. Very small place, so tables are a bit close together. Service was excellent. Food was very good. We were there for lunch, and the sound level... More

Always a pleasant meal in this straightforward neighborhood French restaurant. An essentially never-changing list of relatively undemanding but good French bistro dishes. Wine choices limited but good. Service friendly although zero attempt to learn the names of pretty regular customers. Noise level very comfortable.

Stumbled across this little place, don't blink or you'll miss it. Family owned and run, all very welcoming and delightfully French. Very typical French bistro menu complete with chalk board menus, French linens and tight little tables. Very enjoyable and the food is fresh, all made on site the day of serving and delisious! Between the rosé from Rousillion (Provence)... More

I have been there several times and would describe the meals as good to very good, but not great. The service is generally excellent. The specials of the day are written on blackboards placed on each table, which is sort of French restaurant style, and the server will generally recite some other specials as well. Compared to restaurants in France,... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
