Just back from 2 weeks in Italy we had the opportunity to try "il forno"...and I must say that it was up to the standard of the restaurant we went in Italy. I had a Risotto Nero which was exceptional. I strongly recommend the place. I would advise to bok in advance as the place was packed....obviously I am not... More

I stopped in when I walked by at lunch time felt quite hungry. Had a whole pizza that we split. Really hit the spot. I had two thirds with a coke. Left happy.

Il Forno has been around on the same spot for several decades. While other restaurants opened and closed around it, Il Forno has been consistently serving great Italian food keeping its menu fresh and delicious. This is not a restaurant for "once a year", but one that you can enjoy everyday because its dishes are simple and the closest to... More

My extended family, including now adult children, has gone to this restaurant for decades. We all have come to count on predictably delicious menu items as well as tasty specials, friendly staff and neighborhood feel, slightly upscale from "down home neighborhood" places but reasonably priced for quality and offerings. The home made pastas, honestly friendly staff and owner, and pleasant... More

I've had many excellent meals here over the past 20 years! The quality of the food has not changed and I'm always excited about eating here. I've never had a mediocre dish at Il Forno. The service is friendly and professional and I once found out which employees supported Juventus football club when I wore my jersey to the restaurant.... More

This is a neighborhood gem. Families go here from the time their children are small until they grow up and move away from. This past Saturday night we went with my son, who is leaving for grad school in Florida. He ran into several other people from high school who were leaving to all parts of the country for grad... This is a local place that my family likes very much. We pick up a lot of take out there and it's always good and reliable.

This is a great Italian, family oriented restaurant. Family owned, if you go more than once the staff recognizes you. While the food is not adventurous, it consistently delivers on flavor. It's a family restaurant that doesn't dumb its food down.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
