Nice PLace to Hangout With Friends/Guests

Had some out of town guests and I wanted to have some snacks and margarita with them. We were there after lunchtime and so the weren't a lot of people there. The frajitas were to die for, whether you order chicken, beef or shrimp, they come on a very hot cast iron skillet, the vegetables are fresh, the rice Tash as are the beans. choice of wheat or corn tortillas. Oh make a reservation or come early, it does get crowed. they have outside dining under heaters for a different ambiance.

On a recent visit, (our first to LA) when my cousin insisted on treating my wife and I to some Mexican food, this is the place he chose. After a great meal, there's no doubt why he did. The service was excellent, the server attentive, and our entrees were outstanding. Absolutely top notch in my book. In all likely hood... More

We love going to El Cholo. We start with the guacamole, chips and salsa all of which are very good. Then we have a hand made flour tortilla with butter--delicious. For our main course we have various items. My favorite is the cheese enchilada. We always have a margarita. We have never had a margarita anywhere else that we like... More

We met some family here for a nice catch up dinner. This is a very nice and good Mexican restaurant. It has beautiful decor and an extensive menu. Our cousin recommended trying their enchiladas and they did not disappoint. There are so many options that it was hard to decide. We were happy with all the food. The only thing... More

While in California we wanted to catch up with some family who recommended we meet at El Cholo. It is a neat place, and looks like your stereotypical Mexican restaurant. The food was good, and the atmosphere was true to form, warm and casual. The salsa was also good. If I hadn't been told it was a chain, I would... More

We have been going for years....for the margaritas. excellent as usual..they use Patron tequila. the food seemed not quite up to par... quacamole was a bit bland.. salsa was good. My filet taco was way way overdone but my friends lunch was perfect.

My family has been dining at this fine Mexican establishment about 3 times a month for the past 8 years, we love it! Food is consistent and good! Services are always outstanding! Anything you order is outstanding. Love the Margaritas! Highly suggest this place!

Our first visit to the Santa Monica location and we were not disappointed. Service was fast and friendly and both the Cheese and Sonora Style Enchiladas we selected as our entrees were delicious. It is no wonder they have been in business in L.A. since 1923. Valet parking available, limited parking on the street.

A really authentic setting for enjoying a lunch, or dinner, of super Mexi-Cal food. Three seating areas so go to where your noise tolerance fits best - people have fun here while eating. Back area is quietist. Great food choice selections + primo bar scene. Enjoy ....

Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
