Description: Sushi Roku combines the finest, freshest fish from pristine waters around the globe with the kind of artistry that can only be provided by a mature sushi chef ensuring superlative traditional sushi, together with a splash of California innovation. Sushi Roku is a pioneer of contemporary sushi, incorporating diverse, non-traditional ingredients from Latin America (e.g. jalapeños) and Europe (e.g. olive oil) into its edible works of art. This unique culinary experience that bridges past and present is the result of an eagerness to embrace new ideas and a profound respect for tradition. Sushi Roku’s bold and diverse menu also offers an array of hot and cold specialty appetizers and an extensive selection of exotic entrées. RobataBar, located behind Sushi Roku features robatayaki style skewers, tapas style sashimi dishes, and sushi.

Ate at the sister-restaurant right next door where we could order non-sushi food. The waitress was wonderful - she explained all of the dishes, and made suggestions based on what we ordered. We had a selection of skewers, and each one was as good as the next. Oh, and the pear martini? Not to be missed!

You need to have a meal here. The food is great. Get a seat a the sushi bar. The night I went I sat at the bar. Quite a number of people sitting at the bar were from out of town. The atmosphere encourages chatting to the person next to you. During the course of the evening I met and... More

My wife took me there for my birthday last night. The young woman who greeted us and confirmed our reservation made me glad I'm heterosexual. She was preternatrually pretty, but it was only after she stepped out from behind her little dais and showed herself to be wearing an extremely short skirt and extremely high heels that I nearly forgot... Not much in the way of unique sushi. Not much on the menu. Selections are minimal. It is very expensive and mediocre sushi. Service is unimpressive. Staff is profunctory, no one has personality here. Not worth returning.

The common wisdom is that one shouldn't order fish at a restaurant on a monday. Throwing caution to the winds, we made an early reservation at Sushi Roku in Santa Monica. We were glad we did. This place fills up fast since the food is excellent. This sushi is beautifully-prepared food that is phenomenally good. But, there are great entree... More

My son and I ate here on our first day in the Santa Monica area. The food was excellent, the service just as good, and the atmosphere was fabulous (we sat on the patio with a great view of the mountains and the sunset). Every dish we ordered from the Yellowtail Sashimi to the Kumamoto Oyster to the Filet Mignon... More

Went here for my girlfriends birthday in April '13. The sushi is great, and it has several interesting combinations that I haven't tried before. All the fish we got was fresh, and tasted amazing. It's a bit pricey, and expect to pay $15-20 for a plate of 8 pieces. Service was great, and food came out quickly.

Ate here on our first night in Santa Monica as it overlooks Palisades Park. The menu was extensive and the waiter (who incidentally was "the Sherminator" from American Pie), was very helpful when Ste and I got a overwhelmed with the choice. The prices were reasonable and the spicy tuna hand rolls are amazing. The atmosphere was very pleasant and... More

I love sushi, but my husband is not so fond of it. Needless to say, it took me several days to convince him to try this restaurant. For someone who is not a sushi fan, their menu can be very confusing. Fortunately for us, our waiter was extremely patient and explained everything. When I informed him that my husband wasn't... WOW! That would be the most succinct and concise review, but it is really all that needs saying about this place. I happened to be walking around last night looking for somewhere to eat and finally found this place, which was around the corner from my hotel. It was packed which normally means it's good, and the people in front... More
