We arrived after dark, but could easily see the Ferris wheel lights on the pier. Food was delicious, especially my fish special! My business partner enjoyed the lobster - so classic you can't go wrong! Celery root mash in place of potatoes made for a paleo friendly eating experience while traveling. Easy walk in the thick of the things to... More

Although the food is quite good here, sometimes it can be very busy and the experience a little frustrating. But we do like to bring visiting friends here for lunch, allowing plenty of time to enjoy, as the view is lovely, with the Santa Monica pier below and the ocean and sky out the western wall of the restaurant. In... More

I had to give this one star for the view. If it wasn't for view than 0. I'm pretty balanced as far as thing going wrong during a meal though this experience was a bit over the top. The funny thing is that it started out just fine. I really did have any expectation of greatness after all it is... More

Bradley- I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. We have very high standards and obviously fell short in this case. We will be talking to the server and the manager to make sure something like this doesn't happen again. And I agree, the cost of doing the right thing is the only thing to do. If you would allow... My daughter and I had a pretty good meal. I had the linguine with fish, good. I love garlic and there was a lot of it. My daughter started with the tuna tartar, she said the dressing was not good. She really liked her crab cakes though. The scene is OK, very busy, kind of rushed, service just OK.

Making the reservations was easy, parking easy, receptionist and table was perfect, great salad/soups, lobster meal, surf & turf, dessert, and coffee. Table service was top notch. A definitely 5 Star evening; it was the perfect choice!

It's a happening place! My husband had a steak and I had the lobster salad. Both delicious! Large portions. Maitre D is charming and service is excellent. We had perfect ice cream and sorbet for dessert. The restaurant has wonderful views of the Pier in Santa Monica and has valet parking. Don't forget to validate. We'll be back!

My husband and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary on August 14,2015. Since we were visiting in Los Angeles, we asked our daughter and son-in-law (who are longtime residents of that city) what restaurant they would recommend for our anniversary dinner. Without hesitation, they said "The Lobster"...and we are so glad they did! When we arrived for our 7 PM... More

We had a top meal here with amazing service. The view is spectacular and the restaurant is surprisingly calm given its location just at the entrance to the pier. Excellent wine list too.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
